If you aren't capable of revising or changing your opinions based on new information, you are intellectually dead.
That's why I have opinions, not beliefs. Beliefs are locked in regardless of evidence.
People whose beliefs are challenged experience cognitive dissonance and freak out.
I am constantly seeking to learn more and to challenge what I thought I knew. And, as it turns out, much of what I thought I knew or had been taught was wrong, or at least very lacking.
Do historians or scientists ever stop seeking new information? Do philosophers ever stop thinking?
As a leftist there is a lot of purity testing to our own detriment. The one that personally goads me is basically "I'd never thought the leapords would eat my face."
Basically meaning I'd never cared or even endorse political violence to others till it personally affected me.
I figured as much. I am mostly middle of the road, with some right wing views and some left wing views, and i have always felt it was okay to change ones mind based on presented facts..

Why more relevant today with AI SLOP growing and basically holding up our entire economic growth over these shadows on the wall.

Quite the reverse. Refusing to change your thoughts on something even in the face of overwhelming new evidence is the mark of extreme stubbornness at the very least. New evidence and fresh points of view should always be weighed (within reason of course). Good on you for being open to such things.
Changing your mind... and realizing it... is not being a hypocrite. Its actually a sign you may be doing some critical thinking. Golf clap.
