Political Compass series: Question 3
If your ONLY frame of reference is that it’s your country of birth, then yes it’s a bit foolish. Most patriots don’t function that way though. They know what makes their home country great and they actively work to keep it great and make it better. That’s not foolish at all. That’s patriotism.
Contrarily, it is quite foolish to do NOTHING to make your country great and then b*tch about how terrible it is. Worse, to actively make things worse just to turn around and b*tch about it. We seem to be seeing a lot of this lately.
Can be proud of your country
but it's foolish to be too proud of it that one cannot see the flaws.

I love my country but to say I'm proud of it? It's another things I don't really think does im proud of it or no? I just like it cause it's my country and my culture but I can't really say I'm particularly proud of it in general? (I mean who in their right mind would vote for Macron in this case I can say Im' not proud to be French when I see the kind of clown that get elected)..
There is a difference between being FROM someplace and being OF someplace. If you are OF someplace you are proud of it.
I would say, there is a difference between patriotism and jingoism.
No one choses their birth parents, so you can’t blame them for how you turned out..
No one chooses to be born with a beautiful body. If they have one, should they not be proud of it and take good care of it?
No. Because once they are born there, it’s their job to make it succeed.
