Why are brain scans not used to diagnose gender dysphoria in transgender people then?

I always hear them say things like they have a brain that doesn’t match the body they were born with.
For example trans women have a female brain inside a male body and trans men have a male brain but a female body.

T-that's not quite how it works and the science on them is still relatively new. Not a lot of research has been done and yet there is a lot of hate going on for them just because people dont understand them.

I honestly think it would be scary if they could predict if a baby is gonna be trans or gay based on their brain size/anatomy. You'd be seeing a lot of abortions from the party of pro-life to avoid having an lgbt kid.

Anyway here's a link for a study that shows they do have different brains than their cis gender peers, but not quite the same as their preferred gender.

That is sort of a sloppy study with poor resolution. Functional MRI would have been better.

Because actually doing scientific studies on the matter will shatter the delusion.


These people are sick and sick people hate the medicine which is very often counter-logical.


It’s easier to follow the hocus pocus pseudoscience of gender identity since it’s all anecdotal therefore a compelling.


Letting an actual doctor take a look at your head and find nothing will be a huge blow to the identity you built for yourself


The sad part is parents that encourage it instead of taking action.

I expect there are many problems. Even though someone has a particular brain structure, and there is a great deal of overlap between "male" and "female" brains, they might still be content in their body.

On the other hand, if there's an objective way to confirm what someone is telling you about themselves, I suppose it could be a way to speed up diagnosis and treatment, which could lead to better outcomes.

While there is some evidence that people suffering gender sometimes have brain sex differences of their preferred gender it isn't definitive enough to enable diagnosis.

There is quite a lot of variation in male/female brains and it just isn't as simple as diagnosing a Liberal brain with an MRI.

Because a brain scan can't detect that.
You'd need a genetic analysis as one way to determine a cause for gender dysphoria. More likely than not, the person who is gender dysphoric is likely a genetic chimera two (and possibly more) sets of DNA - one male and the other female.

Because it's a psychological condition and if someone is genetically male then there brain has developed physically the way a male brain would develop and visa versa.

Brain scans can be used to detect thousands of things, including lust, the thing is, the income threshold and MRI radiation risk is not high enough to test brains for non-critical reasons.

I mean one thing is: cause a brain scan is insanely expensive and just asking is cheaper. Also I'm not sure we know exactly what to look for. The brain isn't understood at that level currently I don't think.

Such things as gender dysphoria are not visible on any form of brain scan. That's why.
