Should Arabic be made the second official language of the UK?

I think absolutely. There are at least 20 million Muslims in the UK. Not everyone needs to speak English. Arabic should definitely be the second official language of England. What do you think?

Not at all. If you move to Spain, don't expect everyone else to learn your language; you learn Spanish! If you don't want to learn English and become part of their culture, move back to your native country. This is EXACTLY the attitude that makes people resent immigrants.

Why choose Arabic as second "official" language? Imagining against odds such a need, and considering UK's colonial past, What about Urdu, Hindi, Tamul, Punjabi, etc?

Whether we like it or not, English has anyway become kind of a very widespread international language, allowing people of any origin being able to communicate basically with each other. And that's the purpose of a language, isn't it?

By the way, nothing prevents anyone to learn Arabic, be it to study the Coran or to travel in Arabic speaking countries. This is still forgetting there are many variants of Arabic, not all very compatible with each other...

The UK doesn't have an official language. English is the de facto but Welsh, Scots, and Cornish all have legal status. Arab isn't a native language so no.

No, for a simple reason. Not all Muslims speak Arabic. Many come from English speaking countries, or countries of other languages like Persian (Iran), Urdu (Pakistan), Somali (Somalia), Indonesian (Indonesia) and others.

It's a mistake to think Muslims and Arabic go together. They don't.

Interesting that only small amount of Muslims speak Arabic. Most Muslims read their fairy tale book in Arabic without understanding it or with translated meaning. It's like reading bible in Latin without knowing a word in Latin.
Even though I understand the provocative meaning of this question. From rational perspective is Arabic absolutely useless and it's verbally unappealing. Arabic sound for me like squealing of wild boar horde looking for food.

No, because to what extent would you want to facilitate a second official language? Should court trials be possible in that language? Do bus drivers need to speak both languages? And there are only about 4 million Muslims in the UK. And many of those don't speak Arabic, but rather Urdu, Hindi, or another South Asian language.

Arabic as a first language makes about 5% of the world population. There's also a different writing system to it.

If one continues to not integrate others, the others will continue to stay separated. It's a thing that goes both directions.

Besides, the government of the UK is giving its country away every day, and Sharia law was already proposed a couple of years ago. I believe that when someone decides to move to another country that they were not born in they should assimilate into that country fully including adopting the native language.
