In the so‑called good old days, how common was adult abuse of power?

Facebook has been lately posting about how the so called ''good old days'' kids are missed, that teens were more respectful and they couldn't reply back because the adults and cops had the final saying no matter what. Or that if a neighbor complained about your kid, instead of calmly asking their child what happened and looking for a middleground solution, they would take it out on their child (reacting too much) and give full credits to the neighbor just because they're adults and know better.

Too many people are now complaining that more underaged folks are backtalking. I actually want to point out that in the so called ''good old days'' they're referring to there was discrimination, bigots, alcoholic parents, bias cops, etc. How many adults (can be parents, elderly, neighbors, cops, etc) really abuse their position and status? I'm sure there was abuse of power back then. So it was a very good year either.

No, people weren't more respectful back then. They were fearful and beaten into submission. What's so respectful about being scared of even standing up for yourself against someone of higher position? What if the adult was in the wrong?
