I rarely ever ask anybody for help with anything and usually help others without expecting anything in return, but I do expect them to help me when I need it. Anybody who doesn’t want to help me after I have helped them will never get my help again. I was the doorman at a bar for years and worked at a gas station, so I’ve helped dozens of strangers that I’ll never see again.

What you are really asking is should I give money to charity or Go Fund Me because they will never help you back. Then giving doesn't become a privilege, it becomes a duty.

Yes, see your help as gift not as transaction because you will be very often disappointed.

I do not expect shit in return if I decide to help. I even forget I did.
To me that is the correct approach.
But there is a fine line between helping and being taken advantage of.
There are boundaries even in that.

If it's in your nature yeah, but don't let people take advantage of you, my point being that just cause someone is a certain way doesn't mean you have to be that way

Yes, but it should be measured. You should try to help everyone if it is in your power to do so. Because it makes the world a better place. But you shouldn't bend over backwards to help those people.
