What's the best way to meet women when you work nights?

Hey everyone, I was in a relationship when I first started working graveyard shifts, and we broke up about a year ago. I've started getting really lonely since, and there isn't really many opportunities for me to meet women. I start work in the afternoons, and get off in the early AM.

I've tried online dating, and that hasn't really yielded any fruits, which is an entirely different question about how I don't know what I'm doing wrong with online dating.. But yeah, this sucks.

I used to work night shift at the hospital and had the same issues. My husband works nights now and we are out all hours of the night doing what most people manage to get done during the day. If you're not into the bar/club scene, you could check around local eateries that are open all night and aren't dives, unless you're looking for that kind of fun *L* Lots of shift work women will go out together for meals after work rather than bars to keep from having drunks pawing them. Just because they tend to go out in groups, don't let that put you off. It's usually a safety issue. Believe it or not, they have the same issues you do. They frequent all night stores/groceries like Walmart since it's one of the few places open when they get off from work. Often, there are the same people there the same time every night. You can get to know the employees/waitresses at these places too and even if you're not interested in them, they may know someone that might be. Try to get out to the same places before work. The same ones will often be doing shopping or out eating before they go in to work. You can get to know them just passing them in the aisles or sitting in the next booth. Strike up conversations with the people you meet. Be sure to mention you're a night owl so they'll know. If any of the women you meet are interested, it is a big help if the people they see every night are used to seeing you too. It keeps you from looking like some sort of night stalker. Be friendly but be careful not to come on too strong. Women out at night tend to be on high alert. Patience is your friend. Shift workers are special people that need special people to make a relationship work. Good luck to you!

You should date a bartender :) I worked in a pub for a very long time, none of us were able to have a proper relationship with some one outside the pub. We start work around 5pm and finish 2am, then have a drink till 5 am. so only days off would work for dating, but usually I was just sleeping through them.

Probably you could hook up with someone you work with (if there is some one during the shift) or someone who works at bar or club or something. Just have to loose some sleep and go out on your days off.

And do you really like your job? If no, you could just find something with a day shift ;)

Unfortunately I work alone, and I just have an hour on the front and back end where the other person I'm relieving/being relieved by is there, and they are both dudes.

Most women are working in the day so that's a bit unfortunate for you! But on weekends, on lovely sunny days, you could go to parks for a walk and if you see a nice woman alone enjoying the sun, go say hi. :)

I would also advise you to continue online dating and try out other online sites because then there's more variety of people. Try eHarmony, match.com and oasis.com. I believe they're all free and you'll have more of a variety.

I think you have to try and put yourself in situations where you meet women whether its doing activities you like or through social groups. Also give your number out (or ask for theirs if you're really serious) after starting conversations with women in public places or when you randomly meet someone, like at a grocery store. I was looking at this apartment today and talked to a girl that was interested in the same unit. I didn't give this girl my number, partly because our conversation was interrupted by the property manager mid conversation, but opportunities like this are there.

Yeah, I've just been worked to the bone lately. I haven't been getting out much, but I'm trying to work on that. On my days off I end up just wanting to catch up on sleep.
