Who do you think is the greatest tennis player in history?

this is a very difficult question to answer, mainly because the rules have changed over the years, but looking back over the years for viewing pleasure, in the men's game, I would have to say Ron Laver, he won the grand slam twice, he was barred from Wimbleton at his peak because he turned pro. for five years,
in the woman's Margaret Court, nee Smith, if she could have only held her nerve she was unbeatable and on both men and women back years ago there was no breaks olay had to be continuous,
Roger Federer
Statistically, he has the resume for the "best ever" title. He has won the most grand slam contests of all time.
@Iron_Man one can't really argue about things where era' have pasted, you have to look at what was around at that time, I have only seen replays of the older players, my dad taped one,
Santana V, Osuna, at Wimbledon all touch play, spin everything, wooden racquets, smaller playing area on them, heavier, no breaks, and all smiles,
to me, undoubtedly... Nadal
injuries and all, he has been able to keep with ((not just those two monsters, Novak and Federer)) but also Murray, Ferrer, del Potro, Wawrinka and many other highly competitive, younger and healthier rivals
also, he has won all four Grand Slams and the Olimpics to top it off... this before he turned 25
Who needs thinking when you can just find it in Wikipedia?

Roger Federer for sure. Not because he has won 20 grand slam titles but it is also because of overall personality off the court.
