Why is the world cup at Christmas time rather than summer?

I'm sure in the past it was in the summer and there was more of a buzz about it. Seems bit of a non event this year. Is it because its clashing with Christmas?

not really sure if there is more or less fuzz about this World Cup compared to others but this one definitely feels more restricted and well!! it is...

not only Qatar is not a traditionally sporty country, but it is not the "norm" with the "Western world" either and then, perhaps... all the fuzz of nowadays is delivered through other ways of communication like social networks and stuff

personally, I don't use any other social networks so I do not have actually hear about the World Cup unless I look for it (other than speaking to people in person, which I still do)

Because in Qatar and other arab gulf countries get really hot in the summer. So if the WC was on in June and July in Qatar, the temperature would between 30 c to 43 c. The players will be having difficulties preforming and the supporters will get sun burns. While now! It's about 20c to 25c so it's managable

I think the world cup has to happen in certain temperatures and Qatar might have the best temperature for the World Cup in December. I had an African friend who told me that our summer is their winter.

It has to do with the weather in Qatar. It's a country with warm temperatures all year.

If it was done in the summer the temperatures would be much higher and people would feel sick.

Katar paid a shiton of money to get the Fifa worldcup and during the summer times both fans and players would died from heatstrokes. So Katar paid more to move the Fifa Worldcup 6 month in the winter, and they still had to install gogantic ACs to keep the temperatures at a bearable level.

Because Qatar won the chance to host it, and the summer months are too hot. So they decided in November.. but it was a stupid idea... since all leagues already started and they're were so many injuries
