For example if The Anahiem Ducks get sponscered by Lay's/Walkers and renamed the ArrowHead Pond to Lay's Crisps Pond of Anaheim
I can’t stand all the branding involved with sports. All the stadium names are crazy. The college football bowl games are all sold out, which is lame because the old names were usually something symbolic of the area they were being held. The Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida is now “The FedEx Orange Bowl.” The “Valero Alamo Bowl” in San Antonio, Texas.
I’ve been kind of trying to get into watching English Premier League socc— …. errr, I mean FOOTBALL, sorry😅…. but it’s kind of hard to get into on a superficial level because to me, the unfamiliar viewer, I’m like “OK, let’s watch this match between…uhhh…Emirates…annnndddd…AIA? Whatever the fuck that is…” When I was a little kid first getting into sports and learning the teams in all the leagues, the uniforms were huge as identifiers to make me familiar. Football kits (look at me, using all the lingo, lmao😎) could be nice but instead they’re billboards for sponsors. I imagine it wasn’t always like that and people already went nuts about this around the world, haha.
To answer your question…. I guess there’s no good reason to not allow it, but I think it’s goofy as hell and I wish it was like it used to be.

The sponsors are paying for the naming rights so Yes, they are entitled to name the stadium. Most historical stadiums are still also known by the historical names. Baseball stadiums Fenway Park (Redsox) and Wrigley Field (Cubs) will always be known like that, regardless of what the sponsor's sign might say.
Should it happen No but because the sponcers pay 90% of the cost of the stadium then it happens
No it's just confusing when they change names.

My problem with naming rights on a lot of these stadiums is that they were built and maintained using public tax money. The percentage of the budget for building these stadiums and arenas that is covered by naming rights is so insignificant. If they want their name on the side they should contribute a significantly larger sum of money to its construction
Yes, and it's becoming more necessary. In the NFL, the players union stipulates that a large percentage of future guaranteed money in their contract has to reside in a club's escrow account. Not all owners wealth is the same, and may need other revenue options to offset so stadium naming rights is low hanging fruit. Like Paycor Field for Bengals and GEHA Field at Arrowhead for Chiefs hadn't always had named stadiums until the last five years or so.
that is why they spend all of that money in the first place, product placement.
If it was still called the pretty grass field after some company forked over 30 million dollars no one would ever sponsor a stadium again.
It is the same with bowl games, esp in college, everything seems to have a company name on it. The shiny product bowl, the camp Lujune settlement bowl, it seems just about everything is for sale now.Yes, but it should be a one time thing. If Pepsi buys the naming rights to a Stadium that should be the name of the stadium until it gets torn down. None of this State Farm two years, Cisco three years, Anheuser-Busch one year, Mercedes the next, and Tropico the next three years BS.
Whatever they want. Pro teams (and Division I football and basketball) are businesses. I don't have to spend money on it and mostly I don't. I hate that cities are stupidly willing to use tax money to build the stadiums.
I'm up for it- IF they put in a universal add-on indicating they've done so. As per that one Simpsons episode, I suggest "Stupid Flanders".
I don't mind it... I'm still going to call them for their true name
No it takes away the feel and history of a sports team. This is especially in football and in the Premier League where famous and long standing stadium names are being replaced with branding.
Yes, there is a possibility
Yes, they should be allowed to do so because that is part of the contract. But most times, they should not do so because it sounds stupid.
"Sponsors" write a huge ass check for the privilege.
Yep. The stadium in Perth is named after Optus
I'm still waiting for Tampax Speedway 😂😂
No, not unless they paid for the entire stadium
Money talks.
