Always been firmly against it. Pissed and firmly against it. Was involved in the rescues of regular race horses for a while. Same with greyhounds (who were frequently dumped in mass, dead, in local orange groves when they were "finished" with them). Those horses are only ever allowed to run one way. Their pelvis actually tweak because of it leading to all sorts or alignment issues aside heavy wear and tear.. not to mention deformities from poor breeding practices. I could go on and on.

In any sport, accidents will happen, some of them severe.
Efforts should be made to reduce severe accidents.
If we cannot do that, then either change the sport, or ban it.

Yes it needs banned. It’s went on too many years with horses being killed in other raises, injured and then killed.
If there is that many horses that get killed there should be an investigation and the event should be changed to make it safer for the horses.

He possibly could make adjustments to make it safer. Shorten the race, maybe make some of the obstacles not so difficult. See what kind of effect that has then go from there
