Is this hapkido instructor’s joint lock defense actually effective?

He's claiming that simply reinforcing your wrist with the other hand stops joint locks.

I know first-hand that it does not. I have been tapped out by wrist locks probably several thousand times, and I have tapped out other people hundreds if not thouseands of times.

Real teacher is here:

Watch how effortlessly he buckles his partner's knees. This is what is SUPPOSED to be happening in MMA, butyou never see it because it is either banned in some cases, or because the people in MMA have not been trained properly.

It's good that he showed some of the locks are both a compressive/bending motion and a twisting motion in one technique. If you are only "either/or" the lock won't work as well. If you get both planes of motion correct, the lock instantly buckles the other person's knees.

Of course, they are now off-balance and you have a balance point, so you can now deliver knees to their face or body as they are off-balance and possibly already tapping.

This instructor has a Gracie BJJ black belt, but went back to JJJ joint locks, because he finds them more practical than the BJJ stuff.
