Other: I didn't even know Windows 11 was a thing. I had avoided Windows 10 for the longest time until last year, when my sister's f*cking cat, knocked over some water on a shelf, that spilled into my desktop PC, ruining it. I had to buy a new laptop, and it was, of course, Windows 10, which is LITERALLY the worst computer experience I've ever had.
These mandatory Windows 10 updates that F*CK UP my computer! They make me furious beyond belief! I legit, almost smashed my laptop because they interrupted me, froze my laptop making me have to hard reset the machine, and caused me to lose an hour of work, while they took another f*cking hour to actually update. They piss me off so f*cking much, they legit make me want to see Bill Gates (or whoever designed these mandatory updates) seriously hurt because of them. That's how triggered this piece of sh*t operating system gets me.
So my question is... Is Windows 11 better than the steaming pile of sh*t that is Windows 10? Or worse?
you can always delay the updates by choosing a time and date that your PC isn't active lol
@bingbongbangbung
Delaying them doesn't stop them. I've tried literally every technique they suggested online, including changing the registry and shutting off all Task Scheduler tasks for Windows Updates. But when I come home from work, my fucking computer is still shut off, and I don't even turn it off by myself. They always find a way to fuck up my computer with this literally useless, Edge-pushing horseshit. I've never spent money on something that fucks me up the ass harder than Windows 10.
I only had such problems with updates for my older PC that had an AMD A10 APU but now that I have Core i5 9th Gen it's mostly good
I’m just like you. I’ve had a MacBook Pro each year for the last... well... I can’t remember. I currently have the M1 Pro I got back in March and I hardly use it at all. My work from home job requires windows, so I really like their changes. Looking forward to it.
The other thing for me is that my iPad replaced my laptop (obviously not my work one) a long time ago. One of the only things that kept me tied to the Mac is that I could develop apps on the Mac but the iPad is due to have that ability too with iPadOS 15, although it won’t have Xcode, it’ll still be able to create many types of apps and upload them to the AppStore!
Do you happen to have one of those M1 iPads? I was debating on getting one, but for the price of them, I could have another MacBook or an iMac.
Nah I have an iPad Air 4 which has the A14 chip which is basically the same as the M1, in fact it’s practically the same chip but with less ram.
I haven't seen it yet, but if there are a bunch of changes that would be hard to get used to, I'm sure I wouldn't care for it. I absolutely hated what they did with Windows 8 and trying to make it function more similarly to a tablet. If I wanted to use a tablet, I'd just use my tablet, but I wouldn't buy a computer that wants to be a tablet. I also hated how some time ago, they changed the way they do their menus in a lot of their programs. To me, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
I have loathed Windoze since XP became unsupported. Been using Linux since Ubuntu 10.04. Any Linux is good. Some are easier than others. However, I have to use Windoze for work, too. I just hope 11 is better than 10. They both still have too much clutter and redundancy.

I don't like it and won't upgrade because it serves no benefit to me at all. Its just a crappy mobile/Mac reskin of Windows 10 that appeals to anyone who isn't a tech enthusiast or gamer. Microsoft completely lied when they claimed years ago that 10 would be their last. What sucks is that only those with Core 8th Gen or Ryzen 2nd Gen or newer can upgrade so that would force many PCs to be obsolete for those that want 11.
They are considering to lower the requirement to Core 7th Gen and Ryzen 1st Gen but that hardly changes anything. I know I have Core 9th Gen so that's not a problem, but what I despise is Microsoft lying and releasing a modified W10 with 10X assets and calling that 11. Windows 10X was supposed to be a tablet/ultra book exclusive OS but that got cancelled in favor of a completely new OS altogether.
With every new Windows OS they'll always mess stuff up and make some things incompatible so that's a big no no for me. When Microsoft discontinues Windows 10 in 2025 or even before that I'll switch to Linux. I do admit official Android emulation and DirectStorage APi are nice but third party alternatives already exist for those. Oh right, you also need a PC with UEFI and secure boot along with a DX12 IGP or GPU which also sucks.
Like all new OS, I'll reserve judgement until I use for a while and it's flaws are exposed/known... It looks like the same Windows OS, just with better graphic user interface (GUI) options. I agree that the Control Panel needs a serious upgrade, I use it quite a lot as an engineer and a person who can fix most, if not all, of his computer problems himself. I'll upgrade eventually to Windows 11 after it's released, need to keep compatible with the rest of the world if I want to do my job, also because 10 will eventually stop being supported and become incompatible with other devices over time.
My work computer keeps notifying me to update to Windows 11, but the main software I use for my lighting design work does not support windows 11 yet and won't until it's September 2022 update is released. I'm slightly paranoid that I'm accidentally going to click on a notification and update and be totally fucked.
It's what it is. The thing about Windows is that it has a long legacy. There are API functions dating back to the 32-bit era which still works on Windows 11. That legacy makes it easy to develop software that stays relevant for years and years or even decades to come for users. That legacy also makes it quite inefficient though.
I install window 11 and it's much better than the window 10, boot time is less and everything fastest than before but some little changes than the window 10 but use to in some days, themes are too attractive with dark text..
I have been using windows since the 80's.. It's not bad, my biggest issues with it are technical, not look and feel. Requiring tpm 2.0 will make it impossible for those that wish to upgrade to do so if their computer is older than 3 or 4 years old. Also requiring a dx12 video card is an issue too.. It just seems like they are going to harm the user base if they aren't careful.
add on that you need a Core 8th Gen or Ryzen 2nd Gen or newer CPU (they're considering to lower by 1 gen but that's still BS)
@bingbongbangbung Im presently running it on my 1st gen ryzen.. The benefits of being a Microsoft Technet member.
@bingbongbangbung oh and i also have it running on my wife's 6th gen Intel Core i7 laptop.. It had TPM 2.0
As I said elsewhere on this site, MS seems to do a major fuck-up on every other Windows release: XP was good, Vista was terrible. Windows 7 was good, Windows 8 a disaster (Why TF would we want the same layout on a desktop as on a tiny phone?). Since 10 seems alright, I expect 11 to suck.
That's funny.
The last I heard was that there would no more entirely new Windows editions.
That Windows 10 would just continue to be updated over and over.
The tester copy I have is buggy, but it runs OK.
But to be honest. If you're so caught up on Mac, then you can just load up the Mac theme for Windows. Else go full Hackintosh.
I really do hope it's a big improvement over Windows 10, because I absolutely hated that version, and went back to using Windows 7 on my desktop, and Windows 8 on my laptop. Windows 10 is counter-intuitive, clunky and weird.
I want Windows Classic again. No more Bullshit, Just Windows Classic like you had on Windows 7. Fuck Phone Sheep ruined everything.
I don’t like Windows. My laptop has Ubuntu installed on it. It’s Linux based. It can be installed over Windows and replace the Windows OS but you have to know how to use the Linux OS to really be able to get any benefit out of using it.
I’ve used a few versions of Linux and I don’t find it intuitive at all.
Yeah, it can be pretty complicated at times.
I recommend having a look at Manjaro KDE:
https://manjaro.org/download/
I'm not sure if I'm currently using 10 or 11. But I've used windows all my life and I don't have too many big complaints.
Streamlining funcionality is fine, but it makes it super easy to companies to steal your user data more than usual as it also foxuses on sharing data & files. Great for companies, not for home users
Haven't tried 11, but I'm excited to see how it is.
I heavily prefer linux but windows 11 looks interesting.
they are tying to copy MacOS.. I use both, I like Mac more now
They had better built a better system.
The easier they make it the more they fuck it up.
I use linux.
