Please don't judge anyone.
Everyone has their own opinion.
Comment down below what you think.
I have the windows defender as my anti virus. It will do the job enough compared to any pay bullshit. It also doesn’t have the insane overhead that the others have.
I also have tinypersonalfirewall as a software firewall to prevent software from calling home or sending unsolicited bullshit I don’t approve or to keep anything from downloading shit without my approval.
In regards to browsers, I use adblock plus to remove most adware crap but also run noscript to prevent garbage scripts from ever loading unless I ok it.
Over all I get zero ads, zero pop ups, and zero problems with scammy software. Even though most of what I do online is sketchy.
The issue most people have is that they download shit they don’t understand, click shit they don’t understand, and install shit they don’t understand.
Never click a link before looking at the taskbar to see where it points, never open an exe when the file should be another format, if you are installing software always click advanced set up and uncheck or skip added sponsored crap before clicking next.
Antivirus doesn’t protect people from being stupid.
Computer and network support tech, here...
Windows has built in AV that honestly isn't terrible. More false positives than anything sneaking through, in my experience.
Mac OS has a small enough marketshare that most folks who write nefarious code aren't targeting it. It also helps that it's based on UNIX, which generally makes nefarious code a more difficult task.
Linux has an even smaller market share, so the previous statement about Mac OS applies more firmly. Linux also is normally used by the more tech savvy, reducing the user's likelihood of being the weak link.
Typically, the weak link in data security is the user who opens that proverbial suspicious email/file/webpage that they truly know better than to open. Social engineering is typically the most successful, and no amount of AV software will ever protect from the user freely giving the information a nefarious individual needs to break into your system/account.
1, more then that you just calling for issues as each fight the outher
Also some are the same one in two packging (For exsample AVG)
Its good to have one to clear out known viruess and stuff go too far you will only do damage to your self
I don't have any, lol. (I don't think)
Once I got my macbook, I stopped getting viruses 🤔

None. Literally none. Unless you're a dumbass who'll go to sites like clickmetits. boob and download to their sticky fingers' content, antiviruses are a waste of money, disk space and are more often than not spreading more personal info than the supposed viruses they 'stopped'.
If my video production business was depending on a computer, I would never take it online after installing the software.
In 2025, updates for windows 10 will stop, making the computer so problematic that it is equalent to viruses. The system becomes unstable, unpredictible and unreliable. When updates stopped for windows 8 I needed to reinstall my computer 22 times. Every time a new problem surfaced. This phonemenoun is called PRODUCT END OF LIFE. No antivirus can go around it.
Ubuntu... Stick to the LTS versions (every other year, a new LTS).
My own finger is the only anti-virus software I need. If you surf the web with caution and don't open any mystery links then you will never have to worry about a virus.
Yeah, no that's not true. It's pretty easy for "legit" sites to get hacked and compromised.
@EnglishEuropean proof of your weird claim? Your computer can't get infected unless you open something.
It clearly says from visiting a website. It doesn't say the virus can get on your computer magically from being on the internet. You can get onto a website by visiting a weird link like some people do or you can browse safely by only visiting the websites regular home address.
So how can you be sure the website you're visiting is safe?
@EnglishEuropean because it's the website's homepage and it has an SSL.
That's fine if you never visit a site that doesn't have a current ssl certificate.
I have the following just for my "safety"...
1) Malwarebyte ( the best in my opinion)
2) Registry Mechanic (to clean all the rubbish on my machines)
3) VPN (for "other stuff" 😈 )
One anti-virus software is the best option. If you got none, your device is at risk. If you have two or more, they will interfere with one another and make your computer go crazy.
Windows already comes with sufficient basic ''protection''.
Virus isn't really the problem, but constantly being molested with unasked-for advertising is.
Adblock dude :)
@EnglishEuropean I use it. And what happens? ----> numerous jerk websites ask me to de-activate it before I can see their contents.
Well those are jerk websites, so yeah.
@EnglishEuropean Stick to porn; THEY don't do that :D
I use Bitdefender for all my clients. But if you have a home system, just use Windows Defender.
You should only have one, or they will conflict with each other and waste system memory. Note that malware scanners are a separate tool much of the time.
I've always used AVG but not lately cause I can't find the free one. So I just use the one that comes with the computer.
I've got 4 but I don't know anything about that crap...
The one that's already part of your operating system. Anything additional is completely unnecessary.
No more than 1. Any more and they interfere with each other.
One. Too many and they can cause issues sometimes with one anothet
One. If you have more than one sometimes they step on each other and do not work as well.
I would think that you only need one if it actually works.
0. I don't use a computer, but I have a smartphone and tablet that run android. I have no antivirus on it because it's not needed.
I need none. There is virustotal scanner online if i get suspicious of what i download from the internet.
1, I just use Avast. Then for computer maintenance I use Advanced SystemCare.
LOL! None, not these days. OS has it built in
Just one. Do I need more?
