Any recommendations or experience with dash cams?

My car was involved in a hit and run. Don’t know if a dash cam would have caught anything. But I am interested in getting one.
Lots of them out there. Of course, every company makes the best one.
Any suggestions or experience with dash cams?

Forgot to mention that my car doesn’t have a cigarette lighter power port. Okay USB ports.

USB ports fine, if powered. Our car has two dash cams. One front view, the other rear. Only thing found of interest was a car on fire.
Dash can in the back window is fun. People drive so close, then suddenly spot it! They don't half back off quickly!
