When was your last device upgrade?

Hello from my new laptop! Well, sort of new. I got it second-hand, but it's still a more recent model from my other one. And it's in really good condition.

It'll be time for me to upgrade my phone pretty soon as well. I've had it for about five years. The screen is getting all cracked and discolored. It's also doing a host of other goofy things, but I'll run it as long as I can.

I also have a Samsung S20 Ultra, but I never wanted to transfer everything over, so I never bothered using it.

I've had the Samsung Galaxy series ever since I've used smartphones. I plan to keep using them.

I've always used everything except Samsung & Apple. Motorola, HTC, LG, etc; I've always purposely avoided the "Big 2" of cell phones.

I always got so sick of friends and family being slaves to the trend of needing to get the new status symbol every two years, that I purposely went went the other brands.

"Oh no; my Samsung phone caught on fire, and it's not even paid off, yet!"

"Aww, that's a shame. My eight year old LG still works great."

I used to work for a cell phone retailer. Every now and then, I'd have customers come in asking for upgrades for their nine-year-old kid's phone. Super frustrating.

It wasn't a daily thing, or even weekly. But the few times that it did happen bugged me.

About 3 years ago, I purchased an iPad and an iPhone XR. Still have them, still going great. My laptop - I received that in 2014 as a graduation gift. I think it’s almost time to upgrade it, but I will wait until Apple says they can’t load any new OS versions on it.

I bought an HP laptop this summer because I needed windows 10. Had been using an acer chrome book until then.

My phone screen is cracked too but I've only had it since July 2021!

This is the first phone I've ever had that's had a cracked screen. It only took four months for that and it's gotten steadily worse since.

I had to upgrade my phones this year due to the 5G rollout. My business phone was 4 years old, and my primary was 2 years old but was a "transition model" that didn't have all the needed bands.


I don't anticipate upgrading until 2025.

More than five years ago, expect I had someone stole my phone so rather than "upgrading" I bought something cheaper, less powerful; but I am trying to save money the device I picked is okay for my needs.

I got a new laptop a month ago. The old one still worked but needed a new keyboard. I was not sure if I could buy a new one and it would fit.
