When I worked retail. It got to the point where I just couldn't take it anymore. It's the only job I ever quit. I was way underpaid, WAY overworked, my scheduling was awful (I never knew if I was working days or nights from day to day); I would NEVER get two days in a row off, and they would ALWAYS schedule holidays during one of my two normal off days, so I would never truly get that extra holiday time off; I was often the only person in the entire department for hours at a time (the store I worked at was also the second busiest in the country). I could go on and on, but I digress.

However, toward the end they chose me to be a "team lead" to head a group of people to help with the store's expansion and setup of the new space, and I was told I'd be working with 5-6 merchandisers from head office to aid with the setup. On the first day, I came in and instead of the 5-6 people from head office that were promised, they gave me 6 temp workers! That entire day was a complete and utter sh** show trying to teach incompetent people who didn't know what the hell they were doing. That was the last straw that broke the camel's back. The very next morning, I walked in before my shift was set to start and quit.

Bar none, it was THE most stressful job I have ever worked in my life. I just remember how free I felt as I was walking across the parking lot, and away from that store for the last time after quitting. Never again.

I was mistreated at my old job because I made a big error at work so even though the job was not physically hard during my last week, it was bad for my mental and emotional health and I’m glad I was laid off along with my team when CoVid happened on the world stage. One regret is that I spent my big final pay cheque on books when I could have gotten a gaming console.

      books was good investment no?
      -they can last a lifetime
-they are good for firewood in apocalypse
-you can use the books for shelving , for helping keep things stablized for glue projects too.

Books are good but I have over 1500 so a better investment of my money would have been a gaming console.

A man has to do whatever fucking job is required to put food in the table and pay the bills. If you have a family you don't have the luxury of randomly quitting unpleasant jobs.

If your providing for little ones or parents I respect your drive

      it's true what you say

and its doable if you have it lined up whilst in other job with weeks notice put in.

But it's still a risk to start over at the bottom of seniority, new probation period, having to wait for benefits to kick in, etc. If you can randomly quit a job you don't like this is a PRIVILEGE.

    Had two.

One was at Toys R US. My feet were in serious pain working in the storage area moving heavy toys around.

Lasted 3 days on that job before calling it quits.

The other one was working in Transportation.

I couldn't stand driving around picking up people for about 9 to 10 hours a day.

Lasted 5 days there as well before quitting.

My worst as a teen was being a waiter. I just don't have what it takes to deal with rude customers and put on professional smiley face and I'm also bad at writing down and remembering what people order very quickly.

I switched to working at a video rental store not long after! I liked that better and I could nerd out a bit although I still had to deal with rude customers sometimes which was the most unpleasant part of the job.

I have a borderline trauma of a customer whose VHS (this was back in VHS days) melted in his car and he left cigar ash all over the tapes. Then he shouted at me like a full-grown man while I was 15-year old boy and I was "socially scared". I wasn't scared to fight him physically but I was scared about what I was supposed to do when I told him our policy requires that he pays for it. So my manager had to step in while I had tail between my legs. :-D

I think I could do that job so much better! That was when I was a teenager wet behind the ears but I'm in my 40s now and I started working as a software engineering from my early 20s onward.

Anything where people don't keep their personal issues at the door causing a hostile work environment. Busybodies as well

I think one environment where there's no one to talk with is ama. zon warehouses. Everyone is monitoring things all things -I am told from amazon work videos.
