Is it normal for my Galaxy Note 8 to take 4 hours to charge?

I literally just got this phone brand new condition months ago, and WITHOUT fast charging option which apparently is bad for long term battery life, it not only takes 4+ hours to charge but half the time I plug in the charger it says it's not plugged in correctly and thus takes hours longer than that to charge.

If the charger isn't recognized, there is something wrong with it.
Either the Note8, cable or the charger.

I would google if this is a known problem with a known fix.

Or try a different charger.

Maybe you need a faster charger with more watts to charge it?

Not saying the 4+ Hours is wrong, but the fact you plug it in and it doesn't always acknowledge it. No that is definitely wrong.
Months ago means it is still under guarantee? If so, take it back..

It's workable unless it refuses to charge like it should whatsoever. I'm just wondering if 4 hours is normal to take to charge, I remember someone else saying 4 hours is ridiculous but I also don't use that "fast charging" option because I don't trust it for long term use.

If it were me I would take it back and say it has an intermittent fault, However if you are only worried about the charging time. lets dissect this. The internal battery of a Galaxy Note 8 = 3300mAh and a standard charger such as the one you can connect to USB or into the wall is 1A, therefore 3300mAh/1A= 3.3 hours

Actually I've double checked and the standard USB charger isn't 1A it is 0.5A therefore it should take 6.6 hours which equates to just over 6 and a half hours for a full charge.
