Anyone affected by the CROWDSTRIKE incident?

In case you've been living in a hole for the past few days, there was a major worldwide interruption to many computer systems (airlines, banks, government offices) on Friday 19 June 2024, caused by an incorrect update of Crowdstrike software. A fix was released in a few hours but recovery of all system can take days.

Ironically, Crowdstrike software is security software, designed to prevent major outages, yet itself caused one.

My wife and I know of two people who were affected by this. One had their flight canceled on Friday and was fortunate to book a later flight; the other's flight was canceled on Saturday, and they are still trying to book a flight. I've also noticed some websites didn't work on Friday; they seem to be okay today (Saturday).

Have you been affected by this? Or know someone who has?

Please answer in the poll and provide details in a comment.

Of the 1.4 billion Windows computers, only 8.5 million were affected by the Crowdstrike incident. Most Windows computers are personal computers, whose users do not use Crowdstrike software. Most of the affected computers are commercial computers that deal with transportation, banking and health services, and the fix requires manual action on each affected computer (ex: boot 15 times, boot into Safe mode), which is why it's still a big problem.
