Anybody know how to burn a CD with WMP?

I have been fucking with this motherfucking shit for a fucking WEEK NOW!!! ALL OF A SUDDEN the fucking laptop REFUSES to burn this fucking CD!! So, I bring the project up here to THIS computer and attempt to get IT to burn it to a CD via the external DVD drive but, there's NO OPTION up here to get the motherfucker to burn to a fucking external drive!! It ONLY wants to burn to the E: drive which has been fucked for about 8 years!! It refuses to shut and it refuses to open!! It's been frozen partially open for 8 years!! Back when it WAS semi-functional (for about the first year that I had it!), if I closed it, it refused to stay closed!! if I opened it, it refused to stay open!!
I've already shut the laptop off twice to see if that'll get it back to normal. It refuses!!
WELCOME to MY fucking world where ANYTHING I wanna do that ANYBODY ELSE can do without ANY effort is a COMPLETELY FUCK JOB FIASCO when I wanna do it!!!

I took the external back downstairs & tried 2 other methods I thought of after I got there. Both flopped!! I decided to do a system restore. It took me back 2 months. I tried all the various methods, again, NOTHING worked!! I tried to dump the last 13 songs & burn just the 1st 10. Nothing!! I got rid of the next 5. Nothing!! I got rid of all but the 1st 2. Nothing!! I dumped 1st song. Suddenly, IT WORKED! I erased the disc & tried the whole disc again. Nothing! I moved the 1st song to the end.

I deleted the 1st song. Nothing!! I tried a brand new disc. Nothing!! I gave up!! Later today, if I can, I'm gonna see if Staples can burn the motherfucker for me, already!!

Staples (and every other shop) won't burn ripped tracks, for copyright violations.

Try using CDburnerXP instead - it's simpler and faster than WMP to burn CD's.

Your problem might be your CD-R's are dud rather than your burner. Else it might be you are fitting too many tracks onto a disk.

I've tried a couple different CD's. It just won't burn that particular project. I can use the same CD's and the same drive and the same computer to burn any other project except this one!
The computer will automatically only burn what will fit onto the CD being used. These CD's can hold 79:57. The original version of this project was 79:52. I've burned CD's before that WERE 79:57 long and had no problems with them. Then, I noticed that 3 of the songs on it were already on a previous CD so, I dropped those 3 and replaced them with 3 others making the project 77:45. It STILL won't burn! I even dropped the first song from the project making it at least 3:00 shorter and it STILL won't burn!!
There's only 23 tracks on it. I've already burned CD's with at least 75 tracks.

CDs are a thing of the past. Make sure its a blank CD, if it's a black DVD it won't play on a CD player. What I used to notice about DVDs and CDs was often they wouldn't play on certain DVD or cd players to do with the make of the player and make of CD/DVD.

I don't care! It's the only way I can make MP3's. Records are supposedly out of date, too, which is why they keep making them but, I've got over 62,000 of them from a few months ago to about 120-some years ago.
It IS a blank CD. I even switched to a brand new one.
I know, my neighbor has a Magnavox CD recorder and it won't take anything but special CD's. Mine are Tascam and, as far as I know, will take any CD.

That's really strange. I burned some about a month ago and I had some issues with it but eventually got there after making it into a playlist... Hm I'm not sure what else it could be. You said it keeps trying to write to the internal drive, have you tried disabling the internal drive?

Welcome to my world where nothing works like it's supposed to!
Yes, once I click "Burn CD", a list of all the songs I want burned to it apppear in the cednter secion, each with its own progress bar to show me how far along it is in the process. First, it has to go through the entire list to prepare each track to be ready to be burned. Then, it goes through the whole list again showing how much of each song it actually burned to the CD, so far. When it's done the second time through, a few seconds later, it kicks out the CD and says it's done.
Well, it goes through the first part of the process and, at the end of that, kicks it out telling me that it can't burn the project for whatever reason. One is that the CD might be dirty. How does it get dirty just sitting inside the computer for several months? I also used a brand new CD and it STILL tells me it could be dirty!!
No, how and why would I disable it?

I'm just wondering if it's trying to use the internal one over the external one and is perhaps getting a little confused. It's also possible the censor on the CD drive is dirty... You could try clean that. As for how to disable your internal CD drive go to control panel, administrative tools, computer management, device manager, DVD/CD-ROM drives, then right click on the drive and disable. (Do it while the external one is unplugged)

On the laptop, sometimes I can tell it to switch from the D: to the E:. On this computer, for some reason, I can't do that.
What sensor? Why did it burn just one song last night but then refuse to burn the whole stack when I added them? (I tried all 23, got nothing. Just the first 10, nothing. The first 5, nothing. the first 2, nothing. The second song it burned by itself! I erased that and as soon as I put everything back in, I got nothing!)

What version of windows is your PC running?

Does the drive show up in Device Manager? Does it have a driver that it needs? Windows Media player is usually very easy to use.

Yeah, USUALLY! But, not in MY world!
It shows up in the directory.
No drivers need installed, it's JUST this one CD's worth of music is doesn't seem to like!

so you are trying to copy a CD?
Go into device Manager and check the status of the device (it should say :This device is working properly_)

It's GOTTA be something with the computer and something VERY recent! I tried burning it on both drives downstairs and it refuses to do either one! There SOMETHING about that particular set of music that it just doesn't like!! I can't figure out what it is!!

Is there some form of copy protect on the music?

No, if there was, I doubt I would've been able to DL it in the first place.
Here's the process:
If I find a song I wanna get on YT, I copy the link and drop it into a DL'er and, if the song is copy protected, the DL'er won't let me grab it.
Once I DL a song, it's in MP3 format but, I'm gonna need to cut the dead air from either end and possibly raise the volume and, since I need it to go onto a CD, I copy it to a jump drive, take it downstairs to the laptop where I have a program called, Magix Audo Cleaning Lab..
Or, if it's small enough, I can just e-mail it to myself from here & grab it from the e-mail downstairs.
I copy it to one of the hard drives downstairs & then load it into Magix where I can edit it any way I want to, (for the most par). Once it's done & set where I want it to appear in the CD project, I save the project as whatever I wanna call it.
Once the project is as full as it's gonna be, I SHOULD be able to burn that to a CD straight from Magix but, for some reason, neither version of it that I have will let me do that on either of these computers! On my old laptop or my old computer (both of which need fixed) it works like a charm!
So, at this point, I have to go an alternate route. I can "burn" the project to a hard drive via a set of WAV files, one per song. THEN, I can copy all those songs & drag them over to the Burn function in WMP, put a blank CD into the DVD drive, tell it to burn the CD & all that music gets written to Mr. CD. THAT'S where the problem arises! For SOME REASON, the computer does NOT wanna burn that entire project to a CD! And I have NO idea why! It'll burn song 1 by itself but, if I add any of the others to it, it refuses to burn the project, no matter WHERE I put song 1 in the project!!

THANK BUDDHA ALMIGHTY!! I JUST FINISHED BURNING THE MOTHERFUCKER!! It took at least 15 to 20 attempts but, it FINALLY worked!! HOOOOOLLLLLLYYYYYYY SHIT!!!

I would like to see you burn that same project to a CD using a different DC Drive.

I tried using the external but, it wouldn't burn it to that, either. If I can ever get my Dell laptop working again, I could try it on there.

@FunkyMonkee Sometimes you solve the problem but never really understand what the problem was in the first place. Sometimes you just have to take the win.

I tried to copy all the tracks and drop them onto that drive in hopes THAT'D burn them to the disc! NOTHING!! All I get is a message saying I have 23 tracks ready to burn and if I wanna see the list, click this bubble! I don't WANNA SEE them, I wanna BURN THEM!!

I've never used WMP to burn CD's; perhaps you should try a 3rd party freeware tool.

I just tried Winamp, I can't get shit happening with that!
Up until I tried burning THIS CD, I've NEVER had trouble with WMP!!
Last night, I burned a copy of it with no problems except that, for some reason, two of the tracks near the end were completely silent! So, I got new versions of those two and set it up to burn again and I can't get shit happening with it anymore!! It goes through the normal prep stage, like it's supposed to and, when that's done, it kicks out the disc and says there's a problem with WMP that I can't burn the disc!
