There are several types of computer mouse, determined mostly by how many buttons it has.

The original days of a roller ball on the bottom of the mouse have pretty much gone. Almost every mouse today is optical.

How many buttons does your computer mouse have? Though the roller wheel can sometimes be used as a button, please don't count it for this question.

I use a Logitech MX mouse (v3 I think) that has 6 buttons and two scroll wheels, and I use them all, routinely, especially when editing photos or videos.

I'm what you would call a "power user" - I have 8 or 9 computers running normally and 4 of them are part of my main rig and connected to a KVM switch (Keyboard/Video/Mouse), so I can switch between those 4 devices with my main keyboard and mouse.

7 programmable buttons on mine ( Logitech mx business ) , which is about right for me as they can be programmed for both OS and application use by way of a profile and each profile can change function.

I think mine has a left click, right click, scroll wheel, and 2 additional buttons for page up and page down.

More than I actually need. Two are programmable to do whatever I want them to do.

My mouse for my personal computer only has two, three if you include the wheel, which you can press and use to drag.

My work computer has four, five including the wheel (same thing).

Logitech M310. 2 full length "buttons" plus the roller. I looked at others with more features, but they didn't fit my hand all that well.

On my corsair gaming mouse i have 5 not including the roller
