Which computer technology do you hate the most?

You know the one that is supposed to work well and rarely does and if it does it doesn't for very long. My choice in this category is Bluetooth which either doesn't work right out of the box or works just long enough to keep you hanging on to equipment that you should have returned or never purchased in the first place and then stops working all together. I've spent more time and money on this alleged technology then I have on almost anything else relating to building and maintaining my computers.

Syncing, especially with different hardware ecosystems involved. Even if you get it to work at some point, one update somewhere in the chain and the bullshit starts all over again.

Bluetooth can be problematic. Most of the time you have to try to pair it more than once.

A technology I never liked was UNIX. I taught myself to use it and I have taught a UNIX/Linux course but I always found it clunky. E2 t

I can use UNIX/Linux to some extent, but not very well. And it is quite clunky, you're right.

MacOS X is the user-friendliest UNIX out there, so to speak. Unfortunately it comes with a rather expensive hardware dongle...

Unix wasn't clunky when it was created -- it was incredibly productive for software development, with well-designed APIs. But it ran on systems too expensive for consumers or routine business tasks. So Windows took over, and of course the apps were there...

Well, Windows took over as continuation of DOS taking over, which happened due to MS strong-arming manufacturers into their adhesion contracts. MS knew that both DOS and Windows were technically weaker than the competition.

@DryGermanGuy Windows has improved over the years. It is user friendly while at the same time can be customized to fit a vast variety of uses. It also supports many different hardware platforms and peripheral devices. MacOS will only work on MAC hardware and you cannot even print to a printer that does not have ApplePrint.

User-friendly? Sure, until you have to upgrade and Microsoft forces another unwanted "feature" or just breaks the system, or your system is infected by malware because the Windows security model is absolute sh***.

I love TVs too. Particularly LG's OLED TVs, which are just gorgeous. I have a 55-inch LG OLED TV in my media room right now, and from the day that I got it, I loved it. In fact, I love it so much and I love LG so much that I'm thinking about getting a 77-inch or God help me, an 83-inch TV for that same media room and moving my 55-inch into my bedroom, which might guarantee I'm going to have a lot of difficulty with my sleep going forward. I don't care. I found some things on TV that are actually working. That's really what it's all about. I even enjoy travelogues and the like now because they look so great on this TV.

Currently AI, it's the reason RAM is extremely expensive and now SSD's. Luckily I bought my SSD before the AI bubble, it's going for $250 when I originally paid $80.

Why? The only reason to use Windows is to run applications that only run on Windows. Mostly I use a Chromebook because I don´t compute much. I have a Windows 10 desktop that I bought some years ago with a top Nvidia card to run iRacing but I don´t play anymore so it´s been sitting.

I was more thinkink about real compuetrs and not so much the lack-tops. Try a Chinese keyboard or mouse... they last just through the minimum warranty... and not one day longer. As for gap-tops: probably the Chinockles deliver better stuff for the west. Around here it's crap that lasts only until the 'next edition'. Problem being: western style greed- capitalism meanwhile has driven quality out of competion.

I use Chinese made keyboards and and mice and they are very durable. I don't know what kind of stuff you're using but my stuff works just fine.

That may be the case. I'm not in Thailand to know that. However, it seems rather costly and silly to make two grades of hardware. One good and one not so good.
