New York City vs Orlando

I just ended my one week trip to NYC.

New York and Orlando are popular tourist attractions for people all over the world. From Disney and Universal to Times Square and Bryant Park. Both are very famous but indeed very different when it comes to living there.

Transportation-Public transportation is much more available in NYC than in Orlando. There are trains, buses, taxis everywhere. You can get anywhere without a car. In Orlando, a car is vital. There is a minimum amount of transportation. Traffic in NYC is very heavy. In NYC, it can be much faster to use public transportation than using a car. Driving is very frustrating for drivers in New York.

NYC is a very popular urban city. Nobody there cares what you do or how you look. They see crazy shit every day. The people there are only looking out for themselves. If they donated to every broke person they see, they would become broke themselves. There are lot of poor and homeless people in NYC that are out and about asking for donations.

EVERYTHING is more expensive in NYC than in Orlando. From food, to retail. Even small one bedroom apartments are extremely expensive. It’s much harder to find jobs in NYC, but at the same time, jobs pay more in NYC.

New York is very culturally diverse. There are different parts of NYC that are full of culture. It’s the city that never sleeps. Being a “polite” person in New York will be your downfall. In Orlando, the people there are much more kind.

If you are a kind gentle soul, then Orlando is a better suited place to live in.

If you are a tough, determined person ready to work hard, then NYC is the place for you.

I have not had the pleasure of staying great lengths in either city. I spent a week in the Orlando & Clearwater area for a vacation. I had a lot of fun visiting theme parks but that's all my friends & I did. In between, we would witness occasional spats between motorists. I was later told that road rage is not uncommon in Florida. I have frequented NYC and it's many surrounding burroughs. I can feel the stress of the locals and some unwelcome attitude towards tourists but never felt threatened. Sightseeing and attractions in the Big Apple is definitely among the best in the world. And, despite arctic chills and heatwaves, I find a greater fondness for the state of New York more than the state of Florida.

I wouldn't want to live in either place, but for a long-term visit I'd take NYC. Except in the winter, then I'll take Orlando.

Florida is one of my least favorite states so I'll choose NYC. But Orlando might be more fitting for me.
