Is it still safe to live in Toronto?

With the recent shootings and carjackings that increased the past few years, is that city still safe? I live really close to Toronto and the high living costs and the pollution there already discourages me from moving there. I have been to Toronto just last week but being there as a visitor and living there as a resident are 2 different experiences.

What do you mean everything is an hour away? Yeah sadly Toronto, along with Montreal and Vancouver are very expensive to live in.

How by car? Getting to places by car is faster and more convenient. Only in the downtown area would travelling by car be a pain.
