What do you absolutely have to do/try/see? Besides casinos.
Yes I've been about a dozen times.
Here's some random advice that comes to mind:
- Choose the time you go wisely. It's hot as hell in summer. It gets busier around holidays and long weekends. It's quiet Tues-Wed and the other days tend to be lively.
- Bring very comfortable shoes. There's lots of dressing up, but the distances between hotels are much longer than they appear, and it's all concrete (and carpet in the casinos) so your feet are going to get sore.
- You can drink and smoke anywhere, carrying and walking with them pretty much wherever you like. But stay hydrated. It's possible to get sick if you don't pace yourself and keep rehydrating.
- I highly recommend seeing a Cirque de Soleil show. There are a few to choose from. Zumanity is sexual; all the others have abstract and family-friendly themes. "O" is the water-themed one, and my favourite.
- Decide on a certain amount of money to gamble with, and don't exceed it. Gamble in small increments. You can actually make $20 last a long time, if you're smart about it. (I like video roulette most.)
- Into rollercoasters? There's a couple. Well, one coaster, and one drop off a building as a ride. "X-Scream."
- There used to be a tethered balloon ride. Not sure if it's still there; it was years ago. It's a bit boring if you're bold, but a good 'ride' if you have a fear of things like this. It's so safe, all cabled.
- There's a lot of shopping, but try to stay away from the high-end. There's a mid-range mall at one end, but pretty much all of the hotel-casinos have shops too.
- You can take a gondola ride on a manmade river, inside The Venetian.
- There's a pretty decent aquarium at The Mandalay Bay. "Shark Reef," it's called.
- There's a FlyOverVegas ride next to the Hard Rock Casino. https://www.flyoverlasvegas.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjwsMGYBhAEEiwAGUXJaWcHyAWXwQFnBd3PXKsHIEWDqc0S4NGqZMSviNQtPRogdbjiMJWZxRoComQQAvD_BwE
- For a fine dining but not outrageously expensive experience I like the Eiffel Tower restaurant in the Paris Casino. It's inside a tower replica, and very cozy in there. Go for drinks, if you can't afford a meal.
- Caesar's has a flamingo habitat. https://www.caesars.com/flamingo-las-vegas/things-to-do/wildlife-habitat "The Flamingo Wildlife habitat is an idyllic escape from the buzz of Las Vegas. Roam the peaceful and relaxing four-acre gardens, complete with meandering streams, waterfalls, exotic birds, turtles and fish. With no cost to enter, the habitat is a fun experience for the whole family."
- I don't know anything about this, but you can rent and race a supercar. Pretty cool. https://exoticsracing.com/las-vegas-supercar-driving-experience?gclid=CjwKCAjwsMGYBhAEEiwAGUXJacKvNDjTIztKjtxIc6ervFe-cuXiYzthqRWhvtcrbMxO0M-9OZobAhoC8gMQAvD_BwE
- This is new. Never been, but I like immersive art experiences like this. https://www.viator.com/tours/Las-Vegas/Illuminarium-Las-Vegas/d684-77365P1
- If you have a car you can drive a ways to the Hoover Dam. I didn't like it that much, but guys tend to dig the engineering aspect. https://www.usbr.gov/lc/hooverdam/
Anyway, lots of stuff to do. You just have to not get caught up walking, drinking, gambling the whole time. I'd recommend any and all of these, but especially see a Cirque show.

Yes it was horrible. I was like 15. We went on family trip there. It was 46 degrees (115 farenheit). Half naked people on the Streets with their boobs out and thongs and my dad was so facinated with them he didn't wanna leave.. even tho I just wanted to sleep🤢
Even a male police stripper hit on me from behind when I was there (15 years old) and my family just laughed at me.
I dont think I wanna go back. Not really for me but I can see it would be fun for people who are more outgoing.
I have been to Vegas and it's okay I live in Reno which is in the same state as Vegas my city is exactly like Vegas except for smaller and when you come to my city there's 10 times more things to do in Vegas we just had Hot August Nights it's a classic car show over 30,000 cars old classic Hot Rods is what it is we had the camel races we had Virginia City Grand Prix a desert race dirt bikes now it is September now we're having the rib cook-off we're going to have the hot air balloon races we're going to have the air races there's 10 times more things to do in in my city then in Vegas and it's just kind of quieter and smaller not much but it is when most people come to Reno or to Vegas they want to eat at the buffet LOL there are arcades for kids there's just so many things that people have to go see a show a concert biggest concerts are better than our concerts though even though we have some good people coming some good bands coming now but it's all whatever you like I like Vegas because what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas LOL it's the same thing with Reno but since I live here I don't go to the casinos not this friend's coming to town and then I'll go but we have a lot of things that you have to see we have Virginia City it's an old Ghost Town there's so many things to do up there it's unreal or Lake Tahoe most beautiful Lake ever
Yes I've been there many times, but not for a few years. It is fun to stay in a hotel on the strip and that way you have easy access to the strip. I don't spend any time in casinos. I like walking the strip and seeing all of the little "side shows" that performers are doing. The buffets are great, but go at lunch because it it is way less expensive at lunch compared to dinner.
Also if you like the outdoors, there are places like Red Rock Canyon, or Valley of Fire State Park, that are beautiful and have great hiking. But don't do that in the hot months.

I used to go there several times a year for work (the bank I worked for had a customer service center in Henderson, a suburb of Vegas), so I had lots of time there paid for by the company. I don't gamble (I spent $40 gambling across 6 trips), and I don't drink, so I mostly went to bars, talked to girls, and listened to cover bands (some pretty good ones!) perform, and that was fun, but not enough to make me pay to go there on my own.
Vegas can also be a dangerous place if you get very far from the Strip - there's a LOT of drugs, and so lots of drug-related crime. Most of it won't affect you if you don't get involved in that stuff, but sometimes it spills over onto innocents.
I'd rather spend a week in the mountains, around a camp fire, than spend the kind of money it takes to have a GREAT time in Vegas. It was fine when I was on an expense account, but I'm not spending my own money for bigger versions of things I can get near home.
Well for me i went and my biggest thing i wanted was to check out the exotic race way and drive a lambo. Id also really recommend seeing cirque du soleil if its still running. When i went the show KA was playing by them. Absolutely breathtaking experience. If memory serves your a day trip away from the grand canyon. Id check that out if you have the time. Check out both the old vegas strip and the new. You can zip line the one strip. And also the one part of the strip has screens all up in the ceiling and when i was there they did a bad ass queen tribute. Dunno if they will do it again. It was a night time thing. Lots to do at vegas!
Yes. It was okay. It's fun if you enjoy partying and drinking. No fun if you walk all day to your destinations, it's too damn hot for that in the summer. Pick the right hotels, hotels with the shops you want, otherwise it's gonna be a whole lot of walking and traveling.
I went to Hilton Resorts and I had to walk all the way to, for example Ocean One or Balenciaga shop or Fashion show etc, it was not fun. I had heat exhaustion. I am from the Midwest states, so I blame it on my inexperience of super hot states haha.
There's MGM, something I would love to be at one day.
Cirque du Soleil, a drag show, eat and drink, ride some of the rides. The only thing i REALLY wanted to do but didnāt was shoot full-auto firearms in the desert. There were 5 of us and only 2 wanted to shoot. So we got outvoted. WAH!
Ell oh ell! Iāll go back for that though.Went to Vegas on a family vactation road trip (LA, Vegas, Grand Canyon, Yosemite etc) but was a teen back then. So not much interesting stuff. Its always already a sight to visit all the hotels, ride the NY roller coaster, visit one of the touristy gun ranges, Stratosphere Tower, rent out a stretch Limousin with bar inside, also Eli Roth horror maze (not sure if its still there), try out the zipline that goes through a shopping mall
My step moms dad owned a hotel on the strip so we were there every weekend. Thereās lots to do🤷🏻āāļøFremont street experience was cool.
Stay at a nice hotel and stop through Red Rock Canyon 😍🤩😮ā💨
Iāve been once but didnāt get to do very much unfortunately. I did have a friend recommend visiting Fremont Street, which I look forward to doing next time.
Only traveled a few states outside of Pennsylvania USA

Shows water parks the desert downtown Las Vegas and a lot of fancy restaurants and They have boxing matches And concerts
Yeah me and 4 of my friends went there for a bachelor party and accidentally killed a hooker and buried her in the desert. But ya know, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.😜
If you're looking for a little bit of something different, Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire are an absolute must!
Apparently thereās some shooting ranges out beyond the mountains. Iām not into that stuff, but if you like getting to try different guns out, could be cool
Eat! eat eat! Bautistas behind the Flamingo is a good place to start! free all you can drink house wine while you eat!
gotta ride the stratosphere. :o gotta hit up the zoo and aquarium, walk the strip and check out the shops, catch The Tournament of Kings at Excalibur, go to Circus Circus, the Luxor hotel/pyramid (cuz I'm a big Egypt nerd), and do lots and lots of people watching.
Yeah but I was underaged that time to actually gamble so I was just there exploring their malls and novelty shops.
No, I hope there's a lot to do because I'm not one for casinos, bars, and clubs. I have many of those where I live and can go to at any time.
I have been there many times 😁 check out all the different shops and hotels.. lots to see..
I've never been, but I would go for shows and restaurants.
I'd be bored to death. I don't gamble. I guess I'd watch a fight.
