How long is your daily commute?

I realized the commute experience for those living on/near campus and those farther away differ completely. While a student on campus can wake up a mere 10-30min before class and still make it on time, for me to get to morning class on time, I need to wake up 2.5h before class. Most especially because I have to plan around buses which come every 40-60 minutes and only during some hours of the day, which means I wake up early & sleep-deprived and still arrive 30-60min before class, as taking the next bus would mean I'd be late to class or miss it entirely (if a later bus is non-existent).

Thus, compared to many of my classmates who spend ~10-30minutes/day on commute (walking) each day, I spend ~2.5h/day (walking, car/bus, metro) on my commute and the time lost due to waiting for the next mode of transport is ~0.5h/day and arriving earlier than my class is another ~0.5h/day.

Thus, based on comparisons with classmates:
Students residing on/near campus : ~0.5h/day from home to first lecture, last lecture to home
Me, as a commuter: ~3.5h/day from home to first lecture, last lecture to home

And so, assessing overall, (depending on my mode of transportation) on my longest day, I leave my house at 7:20am or 7:40am and arrive home at 9pm; on my shortest days, I leave my house at 7:20am and arrive home at 5:10pm.
Meaning on my longest day I spend 13h20min away from home and on my shortest days I spend 9h50min away from home.

But I wonder, is it my experience which is generally abnormal or is it theirs (classmates living near/on campus)?
