What do you call THIS COUNTRY?

I recently took a tour of this country that spans Europe and Asia,. Someone on the tour asked why they changed the name from Turkey to Turkiye. Our guide informed us that it's been Turkiye for many years, but most Westerners spell it like the Thanksgiving bird.

What do you call this interesting country that used to be the basis of the Ottoman Empire?

The Turkish government did not formally requested the English name change with the UN until May 2022, so most in the West probably still use "Turkey."

Tubrkia sounds more like we call it here, but the common langrage here is closer to there then English that I assume is part of it
