I did a review on the first book The Young Elites a few weeks ago. Now the final book of the series, The Midnight Star will be released in just *5* more days!
So I wanted to write a review of The Rose Society, the second book from the series. This series has been incredible for me, and I think the Rose Society outdid the first book. I had loved the first book but the Rose Society accomplishes some awesome things:

1. The Addition of New Characters
It was so smoothly done. Most books, when they introduce new characters, it gets really complicated. Each new character has their own new mini plot, and there has to extra time spent on them. This can be so terrible to read, because you just want to find out what the characters you fell in <3 with are doing. The new ones generally seem like a huge distraction.
When Marie Lu introduced the new characters and reworked the original ones, it was awesome. As soon as I saw the new characters names I was prepared for the book to be awful. But by the time I was halfway through, I liked all of them. By the time I was done, I loved most of them. Instead of taking over the story, they just added to the atmosphere and to the plot really well. This author doesn't detract from her main plot or objective at all. She always sticks with it and her original characters' stories and I <3 it.
2. Adelina Is So Powerful
I was really surprised by this too. Usually in series like this, when the main character comes to their big realization or almost climax....they fail somehow. They don't succeed and find out that they needed help. Not only does Adelina make her own group, but she is also their leader. She actually takes all of the control and comes out on top. Instead of crashing her character flourishes. It's just that in the end, she crashes in another way. But she was definitely the star of the book and the series.
3. The Evillll
Every time you read a series that features evil, somewhere in the middle or the end evil always loses. The characters always dramatically change their minds or go through with their original plan and decide to stay good. They apologize and decide to forgive their enemies. Adelina is the ultimate anti-heroine and in this book she only gets better. She cuts people down and uses them like it's nothing. She gets what she wants and if she can't, then she makes it happen. She changes a lot from the first book. She used to be innocent and almost sensitive. Now she's hardcore.
Except evil can have consequences and I love Marie Lu's version of that. Adelina does suffer for what she does, but not in the way that you would think. Her powers can be awesome and throughout this book she gets stronger and way more fierce than before. But she also gets corrupted by her own self and actions. She alienates people too, even though they stay her friends, she hardly has true friends or family at the end of this book. And it's all her fault in a way.
This series is just so fantastic and I can't wait for the conclusion!! So if you liked this review then please read The Rose Society. This book is just incredible, and really unique in the YA book category, just like the first book in the series.
