'Shy and awkward' student, 19, who googled 'how to make a friend' then touched a schoolgirl faces 10 years in jail. Thoughts?

When you read the full story it does sound creepy. His version of events doesn't make much sense and his second incidence of touching her was premeditated. There is no way he'll get ten years in jail, that's pure bullshit. The maximum sentence possible is no indicator of what he'll get. He'll be unlucky to even get 6 months.

If you don't like the Mail, the Manchester Evening News had the story first.

I'm shy and friendless. Too bad he made a poor choice. There's a song about this.
Why would anyone think "let's randomly touch people" would result in friendship?
Do you think it's possible that the kid maybe had some sort of disability and while he intended to speak he somehow locked up and couldn't?
I don’t mean ‘couldn’t speak’ as in an inability, but just at the moment he froze.
I don't know. Even if, she’s certainly not traumatized that much. C’mon.
Well you claim to understand his feelings and thoughts. So there's that.

problem is i dont know the true ins and outs of the court case and the daily mail is the most right wing fake news source in the uk. to that end i would be more likely to side with the court than an alarmist reactionary katie hopkins self promotion rag
If only he had properly googled...
I'm shy and awkward too; I don't interact with females unnecessarily.
I kind of want to know more of the story because right now its just sounding like he said, she said.
Sounds like a guy who doesn’t do well in social situations and some of it kinda a overreaction from the girl
I am attempting to reach out to him on Facebook
