They didn't have a better relationship. Putin used Trump. He knew that aligning himself with Trump would put himself in a better position if he would have been re-elected. If Putin really wanted to do anything, there was nothing Trump could have said to stop him because Trump had no power over him.

He haphazardly pulled out of Afghanistan (which it wasn't necessary, or required), which led to the collapse of the Afghan Government. It destroyed the USA image, and led to increased tensions with Russia and China who clearly smelled blood in the water.

But this invasion isn't due to Biden being in office.
My perspective is this.
The Afghan Withdrawal was NOT necessary. The Taliban routinely broke the peace agreement. Biden had the power to rework the agreement, or break it (due to the Taliban breaking it).
He could have stayed, and forced the Taliban back into negotiations (which they were dragging their feet on). He did not. He decided to pull out cold turkey, and this quickly led to the collapse of the Afghan Government.
The Russians and Chinese saw a great deal of weakness in this. NOW at this point we see more tension with those nations than anytime in recent history.
Biden is weak. The woke democrats have weakened America. Since our enemies see this, they strike.

I hated Trump quite a bit. I thought he was a very poor leader. However, the Biden administration has been a complete failure on foreign policy in particular. Much of those decisions by Biden led to the rise of China and Russia today. Not to mention the Afghanistan debacle, which Biden could have easily handled if he made the right decisions. Instead of dealing with the Taliban breaking the peace agreement, and reorganizing the deal (which was planned early on in his administration), they decided to do a very poor withdrawal..
Much of that led to Russia seeing the USA as weak.

I would help NATO aid the Ukrainian people if I could, but I'm too old at this point. Even electricians have an age limit in the military.
We've had a bad habit of half-assing our help and support to our allies and other friendly countries for decades. Prior to the Ukrainian invasion, Biden botched the Afghanistan withdrawal, Trump pulled our support for the Kurdish people, Obama ignored the Crimea annexation (sanctions don't count), and so on. It goes all the way back to the Vietnam and Korean Wars. It's not a good record.
The only two military operations put in motion in response to tyranny in my lifetime that were run and won decisively were the original Gulf War (1991, Bush), and Bosnia (1998, Clinton).
We need to be better as a country on the international stage. Period. Sanctions don't do anything. Putin will just turn to China.

I agree, and I don't understand why Ukrainian officials don't just order missiles to be fired at Moscow. They have weapons (from us and Europe). Their country is being invaded. They're at war. Use them! Makes no sense to me.

No. Trump listened to and gave Putin the respect a major power deserves. The war in the donbass region of Ukraine had gone quite for the most part while Trump talked to both sides. When America head a weak president and be is divided against itself. Our enemies smell blood in the water and will strike. This woke cultural revolution the far left head been wageing on our people and patriot's is why this has happened. The military was training on confiscating weapons and property from gadsen flag waving patriots instead of focusing on China or Russia or Iran. You leftists out there were more focused on taking away the freedom's of our own people and trucker's rather than spreading freedom. All you far left democrats are to blame for this entire political situation.
There is no way of telling. Whatever policies Trump had in place on Russia could have been ignored and they could have gone through with the attack on Ukraine regardless. There are really too many factors and what ifs to paint an accurate picture.
I feel Trump being a new guy and tenacious with how he handled things made him unpredictable to Putin and he wanted to time to observe and analyze how he carried himself as leader of the United States. Maybe he would have attacked if Trump won a second term. With Biden he would be more in the know of who he is and how he carried himself. Given everything that has happened on his end as President so far, it may have emboldened Putin to make a move because he could have perceived Biden as weak.
In short, no telling. Responses may have been different. Maybe nothing would have happened. Maybe our guys would be in Ukraine fighting now. It's happening under Biden, let's see what unfolds and the fallout aftermath and go from there.

Russian's invasion of Ukraine has nothing to do with who the US President is. Putin wanted to do it and he did. Th reaction of the US and other countries will be interesting, because that DOES depend, at least in part, in who the President and Prime Ministers of the various countries are.
