Currently this feature is only available in 5 countries: United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. If you live in one of these countries, would you buy blue checkmark for your Twitter account?
This is not about popularity, it's an issue of legitimacy and misinformation. Did you hear about the guy who faked an account of a pharma company, verified it, and then said they'd start giving away insulin for free? This was of course demented by the actual official corporate account, after causing major losses for the company.

Misimformation tweet We'll probably see more examples of this as time progresses.

It's primary purpose is to make money off the public figures and celebrities who actually use Twitter for self-advertisement, which actually seems like a fair price now that I think about it. But an average person like you or me could do it too, I suppose. It might make us seem more popular at first, but if all our posts and comments are bad, people would know we are posers and unfollow us lol

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yNope, although my Twitter account has quite a bit of followers already, technically in the influencer social circle because I do product reviews for companies, and in exchange I receive products I get to test and keep.
I'm already verified on Twitter, so I have no need of purchasing the checkmark myself.10 ReplyElon and Zuckerberg are both just bored billionaires trying to see how far they can go. Tje businesses that brought them up gave them the money to safely test their leadership skills in platforms that aren't theirs since the beginning. Its like succesfully raising your own child and expecting to do as well with someone elses grown up son or daughter.
The metaverse is a multibillion dollar laughing stock and twitter is a desperate attempt to save a slowly sinking ship.00 Reply
+1 yI think it, s all stupid to be honest? That guy has more money than sense. Seriously if I had his money, I would set up load, s of animal sanctuary, s in different countries and rescue, love and care for as many animals as I could. That would be beautiful ❤️

+1 yNope I wouldn't buy any blue tick. That money could be spent on something more important like food
10 Replythe blue checkmark exists to prevent trolls, hackers and alt accounts from smearing someone's name.
would you like it if someone pretended to be you online and made you look bad through a series of hateful posts?
01 ReplyNo because people will just assume that you bought at blue checkmark. If you don't have enough followers or influence, everyone will know you bought it.

+1 yI don't use Twitter, but I thought the blue check mark meant that Twitter verified you are who you claim to be (not a mark of popularity).

+1 yI would definitely do it if I was trying to create a brand.
But right now that's not really something I'm interested in. I'm content to stay inconspicuous. I'm not looking for popularity or fame. I'm an introvert anyway.00 Reply791 opinions shared on Trending & News topic. It's rather pathetic - which is why Elon was laughed at when he first suggested 20 bucks instead of 8.

Anonymous(18-24)+1 yYou can't just buy it, they have to let you have it first like always, then when they give it to you, you have to start paying for it. Not everyone can have one, just like before.
00 ReplyI don't think so, it just shows that you are willing to buy attention.
