Might be a strange pov. If we look at what slavery was (ignoring for the purposes of this) minus the obscene levels of abuse and torture. Slaves were tasked with some form of labor in exchange for what?
Food (not good food but food)
Clothes (again not good clothes)
Shelter (of course not good shelter)
Alright so we have established the 3 things they received in exchange for labor. Now if you or I or anyone else gets a job we are given what?
Money. Okay what does that money do for us?
We can buy food, clothes and shelter.
Sooo we abolished slavery meaning people can't be owned. Check. We made it illegal to abuse people. Check. We now provide compensation for work done rather than providing a place to stay, clothing and food. Check.
So simply put we removed the negative aspects of slavery and implemented a middle man (money) to separate the work from the food, clothes, shelter.
Again if we ignore the negatives has slavery really ever ended or did we just dress it up in fancy clothes and call it "a job"

Well, I don't know exactly what he said, but there was plenty of use of eminent domain at the time; all you'd need to do is pass a law banning the importing of new slaves, then use ED to buy up all the currently held ones and manumit them.
It's important to note, however, that this wouldn't've prevented the Civil War. The Corwin Amendment was looking like it might very well pass (Ohio, Maryland, Kentucky, Rhode Island and Illinois- the last by special convention rather than going through the legislature- all passed it, and those are NORTHERN states), but the South seceded anyway. That one fact alone should convince people that it wasn't just about slavery, but people like their simplistic narratives and black-and-white moralities.
Trump offered to fly to Ukraine on his own dime and attempt a peace treaty between Russia and Ukraine.
Guess what president refused this idea? Why would Joey not want peace between the two countries? Could it be because he has no say in the matter? Could it be that he's just a spineless puppet? Is this the military industrial complex at work?
Joey the clown voted for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Trump was against them.
So could slavery have been negotiated? Why not? It's gone, right?

Ultimately slavery was always a business first and foremost people didn't do it because they hated a persons skin colour they did it because they were strong, the soon to be slaves were weak, vulnerable and there was money to be made, didn't matter your skin colour all people of races have been taken and sold as slaves in every part of the world. As it was always a business where the strong preyed on the weak and was for a long time profitable.
It was always a business first and foremost thus was about money anything regarding money can be negotiated
But even if you bought up all the slaves and freed them and passed laws to ban slavery it wouldn't have prevented the civil war. The civil war itself was about a lot of different issues not just slavery, slavery is just the only one you hear about but it wasn't the sole reason for the war and tensions between the south and north had been brewing for a long time.
That was the original plan if my understanding of history is correct. The founding fathers who fought for liberty wanted liberty for all but could not just deliver it all at once without crippling the infant country they where building. Slave trade was a big economic motor and the idea would've been go replace that model over time and end slavery.
But I guess it took too long and eventually some folks saw an opportunity to use such a controversial topic to start a war for their own personal gain.Don't think for a moment that negotiations weren't tried in the 1800s. It really came down to a morality issue. There was no reconciliation at the time. Further Trump is an ass and would probably have been shot in a duel trying to stong arm the issue.
And how much of Trump’s or anyone else’s words can we put together that will turn back time and fix the issues in the past? If you have an answer let me know, (I’ll wait.) Till then I think we need to keep focusing on fixing what we can now and not repeat past mistakes. You don’t erase history, you learn from it.
David Parkman is a shilling to morons. In this case, he is making assumptions about what Trump meant because he is all about degrading Trump. He also has a shallow understanding of history and the causes for the Civil War.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Of course the differences between North and South could have been negotiated, and it wasn't all about slavery anyway. So yes Trump is right, the Civil War was a pointless waste of humanity and a lot of people did die of gangrene.
If I have a problem with David Pakman it's that he can only see one side of the issue and anything that doesn't fit his agenda has to be ridiculed. But he's talking to his own echo chamber so whatever.
I think definitely slavery could have been negotiated. Maybe give plantation owners tax breaks or other incentives to give up slaves. It might have taken longer to do it but the country could have avoided the Civil War.
Don't use David Pakman as your source, he's incredibly dishonest.
Slavery was already on its way out when the civil war erupted. Technology was advancing to the point where slavery would have soon been uneconomical.
Pay very large amounts to slave owners and yes, most would sell. The few that don’t the law would handle. This could have avoided an even more costly war.
Aren't all the proles in a totalitarian state slaves? Including the pre CW South?
About as much chance of that having happened as Israel going and rebuilding Gaza and inviting back the 1.2 million people they kicked out. LOL
No. That’s fucking ridiculous, embarrassing for his supporters and a slap in the face to ancestors of slaves.
anything can be negotiated.
No! Absolutely not
Very doubtful
