I hate an innocent man was brutally killed, though what I will say is this actually is getting media coverage & American people from both sides the political spectrum sharing their grievances with this corrupt system.
In the UK this woman said her birth cost $1200 while in America it is $13000, if you get shot it is $100k to remove a bullet from what I hear and $1000 to get a frickin ambulance which these insurance companies exploit to make it more affordable…. You pay $10k - $20k a year for a decade or two in order to get protection for that ONE emergency only for major insurance companies to deny your claim.
UnitedHealthCare actually is the #1 denier of claims with 33% denial rate and growing as the years go by. You can research this and it is only getting worse to squeeze as much efficiency of profits out of the American people.
I firmly believe if we keep this in the news cycle and make this an important issue to cast a ballot toward a candidate a few politicians will run on a campaign of fixing this terrible industry. We need change because people’s lives are at stake and it isn’t the multibillion dollar industry puppets who can afford better security measures for the next time someone comes for them.

I want to make a larger conversation out of this issue not focus on what happened, that is for the courts to figure out though the Healthcare Industry in this country impacts way more lives than that one CEO & their family affected. Think about that.

I find it really sick and disgusting that some people are cheering him on some sort of twisted “bandit”. That’s what is most disturbing.
He murdered an innocent man who was both a father and a husband. Luigi wasn’t even personally harmed by United Healthcare. Instead he was self-radicalized.
It is absolutely not okay violently attack a law abiding citizen just because you are angry at whatever “system”. This includes calls to violence on CEOs. This will not change things yes the healthcare system in the United States is broken. But that’s extremely complicated (Obamacare didn’t do shit to fix the problem, did it?). And healthcare companies have a much slimmer profit margin (2-5%) compared to other industries.
Luigi was a very bright young man who had the whole world in front of him. But his spine injury left in deep physical and mental pain which lead him down a very dark path. He’s obviously mentally ill and if you think mentally ill people who commit senseless acts of violence are “folk hero’s” that says a lot about you.
SIDE NOTE FOR THE LADIES: please stop giving this guy “pretty privilege” when you judge him. Just quit it. He’s a piece of sh*t no matter how good looking he is. Killing innocent people doesn’t make you a brave “alpha male” no matter what your ideology is.
You wouldn’t be able to do it with this guy anyway so quit fantasizing about it. His damaged spine prevented him from getting laid. And I had deep sympathy for him right up to the point he decided to pull the trigger. His life was in turmoil because of that injury. But just because you are hurt, you still have ZERO excuse to harm others. Especially people who never did anything to you personally.

@MarjorieJ and Daniel Penny was actually thanked by subway passengers for protecting them. Including women and minorities who there personally witnessed the incident.
- 1 mo
I watched an interview with Penny. The lady doing the interview later said that there was a large crew in the room behind the scenes, and there wasn't a dry eye in the room. Penny said that if he did nothing, and that freak harmed or killed someone on in that car, he couldn't live with himself. He also said that a mother hid her baby from that freak of nature. Penny had no choice but to not step in. All the lame armchair quarterbacks on here said Penny held Neely in that hold too long. Neely was hopped up on crank, and letting him out of that hold could have cost Penny his own life.
- 1 mo
@MarjorieJ I am Brown belt in Brazilian jiu Jitsu (which is one step away from a black belt). I know how choke holds work. I’ve choked people unconscious myself.
There can be (long reaching) debate to be made that Penny held on to long. BUT but but. Assault isn’t the same thing as battery. Neely was openly threatening to kill people and was extremely threatening. That was confirmed by the witnesses. And he was high on K6 spice. That can contributed to his cardiac arrest. He did still have a pulse when the paramedics arrived.
But anyway I really like how the NYC BLM was throwing not so veiled threats at Penny. Calling for black vigilantism. Telling Penny “it’s a small world buddy”. What a sick f*cking moron.
Good news is that more and more people are waking up to this crap. Yes the radicals are getting more deranged but their also becoming increasingly isolated. This isn’t 2020. - 1 mo
I said it was crank, but you're right, it was K2 spice. I worked at a prison work release, and I know the effects of K2. It turns people into zombies. I don't know what you mean by choke holds and your martial art, but Penny didn't want the zombie to get away and hurt or kill someone.
- 1 mo
@MarjorieJ Penny was trained in USMC combatives. He’s obviously more skilled then the average layperson when it comes to restraining people.
But I know how long it takes for someone to go unconscious: it’s 6 to 30 seconds depending on how well the choke was applied. Also Penny wasn’t looking at Neely directly when he went unconscious it was hard to tell.
Anyway I still believe:
1) Penny only wanted to restrain him NOT kill him. F*ck BLMs disgustingly false accusations on that.
2) Race was absolutely NOT a factor in this. A black assisted Penny in restraining Neely (f*ck you again BLM for accusing racism just because Penny was white).
3). Neely was openly threatening to kill people. In some states (not NY unfortunately) citizens are can use lethal force to stop a threat like that. Is called “stand your ground” statues.
4) oxygen resting piece of sh*t Alvin Bragg filed manslaughter charges against Penny only 10 DAYS after the incident. That was so racist and disgusting it’s incredible. If Neely and Penny were either both white or both black this would of never even went trial. Never made national news either. If it did go to trial Penny would be charged with a much lesser crime. Grave bodily injury at most. - 1 mo

Could not have said it better.. Thankyou !
I was utterly shocked by some of the actions , statements , even from some here , it made me sick to the core. How do these people wish to live? The shooting of an innocent individual going about his work / life.. those people should be utterly ashamed.
I also declared the other day , that his murderer was NOT a hit man , just a crazy phyco with his own stupid agenda , which is a statement against freedoms , and I knew he would be caught quickly. - 1 mo
@molonski2 my theory is that Luigi lost his marbles after his spine injury. If that unfortunate accident never happened this outcome would of never happened. He was searching for a method to channel all his anger and pain.
I can imagine it must of been utter agony to be a good looking and very smart young man and not being able to have sex because of the pain. Have to imagine how negatively that impacted any attempt of getting a romantic relationship or even a intimate hook up. Especially given there were likely plenty of women interested in him and he can’t take it all the way. I had sympathy for him up to the point he decided to pull the trigger.
So Luigi wanted to be “somebody” since he couldn’t have anybody. He’s “smart” in a way he wanted his name to be remembered. So he got got involved with a radical ideology and went down a twisted path. He was motivated to harm someone for a warped “noble” cause. He’s smart enough to know that nobody would idolize him if he was a mass shooter and/or just killed himself. He’s smart enough to know that taking violent action for a warped “purpose” would make him a hero to other deranged people.
Well I hope he gets a “date” he can finally be intimate with. His conjugal visit can be a DATE WITH A NEEDLE. - 1 mo
Hear hear!

@MarjorieJ about Alvin Bragg. there is one good thing about radical leftist bureaucrats: they all were emboldened to show their true colors and as it turns out MOST Americans hate it. This includes previously uninformed people in the middle. This includes the silent majority. This also includes a growing number of minorities.
We tried this “restorative justice” bs and it’s ended in catastrophe. People are waking up to this now. This is why Trump won the popular vote.
Unfortunately we had to ”try it” but people are now seeing just how dangerous this Banana Republic bullsh*t is. - 1 mo

"YES or NO: was the murder of Brian Thompson justified?"
You know, honestly, that's a good question and I don't think anyone can answer that.
Let me explain...
Brian Thompson, in and of himself, did not deserve to be murdered. His assassination could be interpreted as an act of terrorism. 9/11 certainly brought to attention the insidiousness of fundamental Islam, but also awakened the world to the anger Muslims feel and not just about Israel. Previous acts such as the 1993 WTC bombing or the 1998 US Embassy bombings didn't do much, but 9/11 did. Is the world a better place after 9/11? Perhaps in some ways yes! At least the West has a heightened vigilance against terrorism so who knows how many lives were saved because of that. Then, of course, Iraq and Afghanistan followed. Lots of waste but Iraq is not an adversary anymore.
Suppose someone murdered Hitler in, say, 1932, before his rise to power in 1933. In 1933, can we say Hitler's murder was justified? No, but, looking back, it sure would have helped...
I am not saying Brian Thomspon was akin to Hitler.
But, what I am saying is that his assassination may just trigger changes in the US healthcare system that are necessary but never would have happened via the political process otherwise. The response to Thompson's death has revealed to the powers that be of the vast anger of most folks about it. Not wanting to be victims themselves and perhaps actually having some actual empathy, maybe it will change - and millions of lives over time will have been saved. I won't say that Thompson's murder was justified then, but he would not have died in vain.

Oh, there's been "we need to change the healthcare system" for decades. It just went from people shouting - like Bernie Sanders - to someone using a bullhorn.
I chose not to have children because 40+ years ago I predicted the shitshow we are in and I wanted to protect my kids from that and the only way I knew that could happen was to not have them. A nontrivial part of that is the very fucked up healthcare system in the United States.
- 1 mo
To start with a quote from a wise friend that I met on GAG "cheering for events such as this (assassination or whatever you want to call it) this is like taking a dangerous dog to a party to attack your enemies, you take a chance that you get bit as well. Or in other words when your adversaries gets murdered by crazed gunman it's all fun and games until a gunman shows up on your door step and your the one he has a disagreement with.
I mean as a nurse I know how corrupt the insurance business, and most health systems are for profit, heck even non-profit are corrupt as well. I knew this before going into to healthcare, some might ask "why do it, why work for a broken system". My reasoning is what happens when you get rid of all the people in healthcare that actually care about patients? Then you have people just doing it higher than average pay, that don't really care, sure those people do exist in healthcare, which is why I was inspired to be different counter act them. I hopefully give some people a fighting chance at survival and getting well, if I don't burn myself out trying.
That being said while I understand the anger people have towards corrupt insurance companies that deny coverage, I also know nothing will change if we don't vote for candidates that are not in the pocket of corporate donors, that goes for the right and the left. However, regulations for healthcare, corporations etc. also means bigger government and more legislations which republican, libertarians and many independents hate the idea of.

The US system is so badly broken , the highlighting of this is probably the only good thing to come it , I had 2 children born in Australia , cost me zero , nothing , and great care , thats as it should be - no idea if it costs now , but 13k in USA? What an absolute joke , encouraging people to give birth on the street like a dog.

Hopefully it wakes all these big CEOs that are running companies and banks that just because they legally f*ck the common people over doesn't mean there will not be repercussions.
Charles Dickens speaks of it in a Christmas Carol.
"This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware them both, and all of their degree, but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased. Deny it!" cried the Spirit, stretching out its hand towards the city."
It's important to remember what happened in the French & Russian revolutions and why they happened.

Profiting off of the suffering and deaths of the American people absolutely makes you a parasite. I remember when greed was a sin. Not to be celebrated but to be snuffed out instead. Brian Thompson was a horrible human being responsible for thousands and thousands of deaths and suffering because of policies he absolutely implemented.
Like the AI that he absolutely implemented that they knew had a 90 percent failure rate. The purpose of said AI was to deny claims.
This country has a weird ferish for rich people and being treated poorly by those rich people. Battered spouse syndrome.35 Reply- 1 mo
He had a serious back injury that was compressing his nerves causing extreme daily pain. He comes from money and even with "great" insurance his claims were denied. That's Why he did what he did. His mother also had health issues and united health fucked them over.
Just goes to show you that first the poor people had issues, then middle class, now wealthy people are even getting screwed over by greed. It's never enough money for them. They're stripping resources until there's nothing left. We are now Those resources. They're absolutely parasites. - 1 mo
Yep their strategy is delay, deny and defend. They literally teach new recruits that in training. It's so messed up. They brag about it.

don't have feelings about it at the moment.
I tend to think shooting someone dead in cold blood isn't the way, but the tried and true group protest is healthier.
There are tons of abuses in corporations and sometimes the only pressures they respond to... given the pressure of wall street $... is law suits and fear of life.
Maybe there is a better solution, but it takes so much effort to oppose these big companies. They are in essence. A____holes, that think they are right. Often they are pigeon holed by individual A___holes, legal issues and government laws. And of course, there's making profit as motive.
If their motive in healthcare was "we maximize resources to care for our patients"... that be different. But as it is..."we maximize profit for our shareholders"... is the flaw.
One can see why a person would go bonkers and justify it to look like a martyr.

I hope they dig a hole so deep and throw this guy in it for life. I know there are people praising this guy as a hero for killing a healthcare CEO, I don’t see it like that. If we all voiced our grievances with a gun in a very short time there would be no one left on the planet. He should go away for ever or death penalty would work too.

It's all bullshit. Even if you believe the narrative, it's still bullshit. Government healthcare denies treatment and causes deaths every single day, but no one is outraged and commiting murder over it. All the people that are cheering that CEO's death wouldn't be cheering the head of the VA being murdered, despite killing people constantly.
They're just butthurt that the CEO was rich. The irony being that the CEO worked his way up from nothing and the killer is a 1%er, privileged, Ivy League snob.

@ManOnFire Im X IT and I agree. Id unplug that crap now!!! trouble is, can't control other countries, sure as heck wouldn't release any of it to any other country.
- Opinion Owner1 mo
@ManOnFire that article makes it sound like he didn't make anything, unless he was a developer on the side. But that doesn't dismiss my point that denials in medical care requests are part of every type of healthcare system, government or private. Otherwise the systems would become unaffordable and more people would be without coverage because there isn't infinite money in existence or infinite numbers of healthcare workers. Some amount of denial has to exist.
Meanwhile, I still don't see anyone calling for the blood of leaders of Medicare, Medicaid or VA. Despite denials and patient deaths in those systems. Meaning the ultimate point of outrage is the idea of people getting rich off of private, consensual trade. The rich government leaders aren't getting that same hatred.
If we set laws that forced both private and government healthcare payment providers to provide 100% of all requests made by doctors, the entire system would collapse. Efficiency saves way more lives than it costs. - 1 mo
No one called for the blood of the guy Mangione killed either. They just feel that there was some sense of 'justice' in that somebody wasn't afraid to assail a big healthcare drone, sending the message that people are tired of these wicked forces.
People are still hating Medicare, Medicaid and VA heads, and definitely hating rich gov leaders, it's just that most people aren't going to go as far as Mangione did. - Opinion Owner1 mo
@ManOnFire there are endless people on social media celebrating his murder. And some calling for more. But yeah, no one was calling for it ahead of time that I'm aware of, so that's fair to say.
Right, no one is going that far or calling for it either. So it seems to me to be a very limited outrage. Which tells me it's likely another factor. I'm only assuming what I said before, about that part though. - 1 mo
The issue is that Americans are sick of outrageously rich healthcare companies not "being able" to help allllllllll these people out here, when America frequently boasts that it is the richest nation on earth. If so, why then is anyone not able to get healthcare? Hell, even in Scandinavia public transportation is free. Why? Because gov cares about giving BACK to the people.
America has more than enough dollars to go around. If we can give other countries cash for weapons, and waste millions on NASA, why can't we funnel cash into our own broken systems?

dude also came from a rich family. he's mentally ill and is obviously in pain from his spine injury. he isolated from literally everyone starting 6 months ago. his family should have taken that more seriously. he's very young and ruined his life.
i think it's fucked up that people are "cheering" him on for killing someone. yes, the CEO was greedy. but that doesn't mean you have to kill someone for it. from what i've seen, democrats are cheering him on. republicans think what luigi did was wrong. obviously, morally standing, luigi did wrong! i don't know what will happen to him. will he get bailed out by his rich family? dude clearly was screaming for help. he is not the hero you are thinking he is.
10 Reply Insurance companies deny people and cause pain and even death when they should have approved the claim. Its a game to them and the government allows it.
But I don’t fully understand him. He was given an amazing education and had a great degree in Engineering so he should have gotten insurance which was part of his issue as he turned 26. He had a bad back and I don’t know how that played into his actions. But people of all political persuasions hate insurance companies for what they do to people.

Why he did what he did is very understandable, I just don’t agree with how he did it. Killing a CEO isn’t going to change anything as additional security is cheaper than changing their business practices. The incentives remain the same and so nothing will change.
As much as I agree that the company in question should be destroyed, that doesn’t extend to the people who work there and crossing that line is never a good idea. Regardless of their position in the company.00 Reply - 1 mo

It’s wild that it crosses no one’s mind that an Italian hitman from the Baltimore-Washington DC metro area which is run by the Gambino crime family, just so happens to whack the CEO of United Healthcare who was conviently facing a DOJ probe for insider trading. That DOJ antitrust investigation involved another Italian “politician” from the same Baltimore-Washington DC metro area who is notorious for insider trading, Nancy Pelosi. Paul Pelosi, Nancy’s husband just happened to make a pretty penny by purchasing call options in Palo Alto Networks which collaborated with United Health Goup for a major cybersecurity event. But I’m sure the real story is about a vigilante anti-private health insurance advocate left wing lunatic, not an Italian hitman whacking a CEO to prevent government cooperation in order to protect powerful criminals… Just keep spooning that bullshit down your throat. They say he was found days later with the murder weapon, a manifesto, and a pile of cash... I know all murders hold onto murder weapons after a kill. Also, I know guns, where's the silencer/suppressor? The reason he kept having to cycle the weapon is because he made that shit himself. It doesn't have that spring shit to prevent that problem. The real killer that is... meanwhile this guy has a gun... sure... where is that other shit?
Basically, the weapon isn't going to match the weapon used in the murder. Just watch... This guy just happens to randomly gets noticed in a McDonald's multiple states away... or did his buddy snap that pic and turned him in? And all for the clout.

I really like how she tried to insult you with the “minimum wage” comment while at the same time she’s all about “fighting capitalism”.
Also love how she’s attacking guys with “oh that’s why you’re single” when all likelihood the shooter was driven to insanity because he himself can’t get laid because of his injury.
Such impressive logic she has. - Opinion Owner1 mo
@blueonblack22 Right! and never mind the fact that I've been married for 12 years.

You didn’t need to go anon on this. People to call out evil when they see it.
It’s plainly obvious that CarolinaGirl5 isn’t the brightest bulb in the box. However she is still supporting a very dangerous and deranged ideology. She is in a minority but she isn’t the only one.
This isn’t even a politician who was murdered but a law abiding citizen who works in the private sector. Now some people think it’s okay to kill innocent people like this. - Opinion Owner1 mo
Oh it's just my normal mode of operation. I always go anon on anon questions, and not anon on not anon questions. Side note I love your ID @blueonblack22 and the song.

Lamo, I've been married for twelve years. What's sad here is you're the same women I've seen saying that the death penalty should be outlawed. The hypocrite is strong with you. What don't you play hide and go fuck your self.

She’s already hiding from me (she blocked me). Which goes to show even more what kind of people “support” cowardly pieces of sh*t like Luigi Mangonie.
