What's up with Boeing?

President Trump was gifted a luxury 747 from the Saudis. If he can accept the gift he plans to have in converted to replace the aging Air Force One.

President Trump negotiated a lower price for two new Air Force Ones in the beginning of his first term. Why has Boeing not delivered these planes? They complained that the price they negotiated was too low so maybe they are reneging on the deal?

If this is the case then why were they given the contract to produce the new F-47 fighter jets?

Not going to happen.

It would take YEARS before they could scan the plane for bugs, disassemble and check all of the literally millions of parts on that plane, add the gigantic upgrades in defense and weapons mechanisms, avionics and improvements necessary to use it for the president.

Trump did it for two reasons:

1. He's trying to get to Boing because they were supposed to deliver a new Air Force One plane years ago and they have constant excuses and delays.

2. He wants the Democrats to make idiots out of themselves for the 25,789th time since he announced he was running for president and they turned on him like rabid jackals.

President Trump plays Democrats like a fiddle. It is so freaking funny how he throws them off their game and they keep shooting themselves in their feet! He makes their heads explode with every word! It's HYSTERICAL! Man does he have their number! He controls them like remote control robots.

It's another troll trap and the Democrats fell right into it as usual!

Boeing's historic business model has been cost-plus, meaning the customer pays more than estimated if it costs Boeing more money. The Air Force One contract is a fixed price contract, which Boeing has a hard time managing, resulting in many delays; the contract was signed in 2018, and the earliest Boeing might have one of the two planes ready is 2027. Boeing has the same problem with Starliner, which is years late and billions over budget, which Boeing has to eat... plus, Starliner doesn't work.

The F-47 contract is a typical DoD cost-plus contract, which Boeing usually manages quite well.

When Trump was elected he did not approve of the contract and best them down on the price. It was one of the first things he did when he took office and set the tone for the rest of his term. This was in 2018 so where the hell are the planes? They will be obsolete by time itis done.
It is a little embarassing if we have to refit a plane gifted by the Saudis to be the new Air Force One.

Biden didn't cause prices to go up, Covid and supply chain issues did, all over the world. Trump's tariffs, however, are solely to blame for the upcoming inflation in the US alone.

Just a small correction. The plane that was gifted to the US is not from the Saudis but from the Qatari government.

It is prostitution in disguise. You can imagine that the Qatari government is going to expect something in exchange for that megalomaniac's desire to have his own personal presidential jet before the end of his term.

Boeing is a company in distress since many years now. The race to try to beat Airbus with the Boeing 737MAX has revealed how Boeing management has attempted to hide a faulty airplane to its customers. The implementation of the malfunctioning Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS). This automated flight control system was designed to assist pilots but without their knowledge and without properly training them on this new MCAS.

Boeing has constantly proved that it lags behind the innovation and security of Airbus and the new administration is doing anything it can to make skies even less secure over the US.

It doesn't surprise me though. When they made the order in 2018, everything was a lot less expensive than now. We all know that.
Building a jet is no simple endeavor and I am sure Boeing had no idea that it. is going to probably triple now to build it. Boeing hasn't been doing very well financially for years now and I don't think that building a jet nearly as cheap to build like it was in 2018!! Just my opinion...

There are currently new VC-25’s (two specially configured Boeing 747-200B's) on order, President Trump renegotiated the contract for the planes in his first term was last in office but their construction/completion has been delayed.

Boeing was supposed to deliver a replacement for Air Force One last year, but significant delays have cost the plane maker billions on the project. They have also drawn ire from the president, who told reporters aboard Air Force One in February that he was “not happy with Boeing” and may purchase a plane elsewhere.

Boeing has blamed a variety of factors, the bankruptcy of one of the company’s key suppliers, delays for workers needing proper security clearances, hefty turnover at the San Antonio facility where the work is being done, and the pandemic’s upending of global supply chains soon after Boeing started the project.

The company has lost $2.5 billion on the contract, and the fixed-price language means it’s on the hook for the project’s ballooning cost overruns.

Boeing had major problems internally, processes.., slowed down, processes all jacked up? Scary. I've seen corporations, they can be really screwed up.

The plane Boeing is building for the president will not be full of listening devices, it will presumably have counter-measures to, say, Russia jamming GPS signals or incoming attacks.

A federal employee isn't allowed to accept a free coffee and doughnut from a contractor because it gives the impression of impropriety, but Trump can accept and keep a $400m airplane from Qatar, based on a "legal" opinion by a "former" Qatari lobbyist?

Yes, when I was in grad school in 2012 Boeing was one of our case studies. They were just about to subcontract some of their electronics to be made in China. The first thing that I said was "What could go wrong?"

But it's as outdated as its receiving president is.

Further: I believe to have read somewhere that an ''Airforce One'' is planned much ahead.

So Trump will have to stick it where his mind is :D

Boeing didn't offer Trump a big enough bribe but Qatar did. Qatar will see a lot of business from Trump as a result of this and Boeing is likely to be shortchanged to a larger degree. I probably should add not that it makes any difference that bribing a public official including Trump is illegal as hell, but apparently in the United States illegality doesn't count for much anymore.

They closed their 747 production line. A good recent used one is an easier conversion to AF1 I believe DEI has scuttled Boeing. Elon Musk should buy it and fix it.
