How to talk to a shy guy if I'm really shy?

Smile, say hello and introduce yourself - basic, but it works better than almost anything. There's definitely no need to get in-depth in conversation right away, so just talk about class, or your interests, or something like that. Like Atomizer, I'm also a former "shy guy" who pushed himself out of his comfort zone through much practice and sheer force of will some years ago - the battle against shyness can be difficult at times, but it can be won. I've had problems with shyness in the past. One thing that I found helped was to chat online with someone. Send him a Facebook post or something. It helps to just be able to talk without being face to face, and eventually once you are comfortable with that maybe you can smile at each other, wave, and talk to each other IRL.

Hi, you have SAD so its probably going to give you uncomfortable feelings when you plan this in advance. I'm really shy myself and I like this girl who is shy herself. And yea... I didn't speak to her, not properly anyways cause the convo is always jumpy and anti-climatic. That's why I reckon I should text her instead except I don't have her number... too shy to ask :(

... Anyways what I'm saying is if you guys like each other, best way is to look back at him too. Smile when yur eyes meet. It would be weird so make eye contact, turn away shyly, then repeat. Always smile to show him you notice what he is doing and like it.

This would boost his confidence and will be thinking to approach u.

One trick that might be good for you, is to avoid talking about yourself or asking personal questions at first. Shy people sometimes don't like talking about themselves -- but they can be more comfortable talking about favorite movies, books, sports or other hobbies because it feels like the spotlight's not on them personally.

And even if you're shy, you can still learn to talk to people. It simply takes some practice and dedication. I'm living proof that you can overcome shyness with simple practice. It feels weird to push from your comfort zone, but you've got to do it if you want to make progress in life.
