For the last few months I've been smitten over a guy that I had some classes with. I thought he liked me. he was different around me. He always seemed to have those little signs that he felt the same way about me.
Well, the local school that we both go to was split in half. I'll be staying. He'll be going. Because I know he's so passive at moments about anything and everything I wrote him a letter. Stupid decision. One of my friends gave it to him for me. another stupid decision. Nothing was stated in it about how I feel about him, although I'm sure I unintentionally put in hints. The basically said, you're one of my best friends. I don't want to loose that.
That night I got an email from him saying, ya lets keep contact, at least over the summer.(What makes it so hard for us to stay friends is because, nerdily enough, we're both on the school debate team which is ultra-competitive. You don't talk with the other team, and well, like I said, he's passive. ) A month into the summer and I've yet to recieve an email, or any form of contact for that matter. I had to call him up the other day to give him a heads up about a change in the debate set-up for this year and he seemed so distant. Which normally when we spoke he was always talking and always seemed excited to see me.
So, in other words.what happened. Did he ever like me, as a friend or more and does he still like me now? Is he just being super passive, or is there more I'm completely missing?
Most likely he is protecting himself by writing you off. He did, and does like you, but he is afraid he has already lost any chance of being friends with you, even if he would have been willing to give up the debate team for you.
Weigh it out. Would it be worth it to ask him if he would be interested in investing time together, even if it meant you had to leave the debate team, to do so? If you think so, make the offer but, be ready to follow through if things work out.
