Does he like me or am I reading the signals wrong?

Question

I have a guy friend that I have known and liked since high school. The last time I have seen and spoke to him was 5 years ago when we graduated. We have recently started messaging each other back and forth online. In the messages he told me how pretty I am, that he has always been there for me, and wants to see me when he gets home. I have lost a lot of weight and that what took his notice of me. He has said other things that make me question his intent, but those are a few that have made me question.

The catch is, he has a girlfriend and he was even talking about his relationship problems with me and how his girlfriend is losing interest in him.

Im really confused. I have asked a lot of people and they can't give me a straight answer. They also said it could go either way. Is he interested in me or is he just being nice?

I think he is just trying to see if that pent up crush he might of had back then and especially now that you look even better can come to life. Meaning, how convenient is it that he is having relationship problems when he stars getting in contact with you again. Don't just think the best in him, I mean I know you have known this guy and all that but the fact that he's talking to you while he has a girlfriend that "is losing interest in him" is just weird.

Maybe you should just back down a bit and see if he still pursues you. and if he does great but also you should hang out first, see if his reaction to you in person is genuine (look at how he reacts to you when you talk to him about things that matter 2 u) If he just stares at you or really flirts big time and acts like he just wants a fling then that's what it is...It may be that he wants to have a fling with someone he knows, who is now even prettier than she already was, and is ont close to where he is now (w/a gf)...try to weed out his behavior over a long period of time. (about 2 months or more)

you can also try just flat out talking to him. Ask him why he's with his girlfriend if she is losing interest in him. how does it affect him? what does he really want? does he want to get to know you in adifferent way that can lead to something eventually? let him know what you love about talking to him and spending some time with him, but let him know your concerns as well. like the fact that he is not single...Will this be his normal pattern if you end up dating him? will something like this happen and he starts talking to other girls? just be open with him and see what he says. REMEMBER DON"T ATTACK OR CONFRONT HIM! just have a converstaion.

idk. I was in a situation with my best guy friend like that where I liked him but he didn't see me that way. it was all because either I looked at him the wrong way for caring so much for me and being so nice and being there for me all the time. we'd talk forever on the phone and plus I saw him monday to friday at work and hungout with him EVERY weekend. but when I told him my feelings, he said he didn't see me that way only as a sister. yeah, it hurt, but eventually, it went away. maybe he's giving you a hint that his relationship is going bad and that maybe you two can eventually hook up. OR, you're just the close friend he likes to get advice from and thinks he can confide in you.

He could be both.  Being nice and also interested in you.  Usually a guy won't say those things to a girl unless he think she's pretty cool and has at least some interest in her.  Maybe he sees his relationship with his girlfriend coming to an end and is starting to think of you as someone he could start hanging out with or being with.  There's no need to be so confused because he hasn't had a chance yet to show his genuine interest in you, so just give him a chance if you're also interested.  Just because a guy has a girlfriend doesn't mean he's completely tied to her and can't show any interest in any other girl.  Unless he's engaged or married (the same for a girl) or talking about that with his girlfriend, he's not totally and completely committed to her.  That's why when you're in a relationship, if you really like or love your boyfriend or gf, and you want to keep it that way, a person has to make sure to not give them a reason to wander.  So if you kinda like this guy I'd say it's looking up for you because you'll probably be hearing from  him even much more in the near future.

I think he is interested in you. By bringing up the troubled relationship, he is not only saying "hey, look, I could be available" but maybe trying to make you jealous because he senses you might be thinking this way.

I'm not going to lie, I do this sometimes. I'll bring up relationship problems to someone I see as a future girlfriend to try and make the other one kind of jealous.

I tell this to EVERYONE that asks this question (and believe me everyone asks this...) but the answer is...it doesn't matter what he does/doesn't do ...it doesn't matter how different your situation is from everyone elses. Fact of the matter is...wondering and fearing rejection are BIG time wasters. Its only a lose-lose situation.

i think he might be intrested in you but scared to ask you out since its been 5 years! Maybe his telling you his girlfriend and him are having problems to let you know that he's into you and maybe looking for you to tell him your in to him. It might also be that he has a lot going on and he doesn't have time to ask you out I think he likes you but maybe you should question yourself if you want this I mean you said you lost a lot of wieght for him to notice you>? so is he attracted to your bodyy or your personality maybe you should ask youself that and once you got that figured out I say GO FOR IT(:

niether. sounds like he wants the next best girl its called girl hoping you date the girl find her best hot friend break up after awhile than go for her friend etc etc its a bragging thing. if you have things common than he's in it for good. but you said you lost a hole bunch of weight so your breasts may look bigger or somthing. I don't know but don't take it to heart in what he says and keep asking his girlfreind on the current status of their relastionship.. best of luck :)

Seriously..from what you described there are so many avenues it can be taken. But the question is If you feel interested in him. If you are then pursue it, if not just take it as friendly compliments. I compliment my friends most of the time..but that's just how I am. :P

It sounds like he is interested.  Everything he said seems to be like he's hinting he might want to take it there, especially since he's mentioned relationship problems.  I think he's interested but be careful.

i think there is a possibility he may like ou but you need to wait until his girlfriend is gone and it sounds like she's going soon because of their relationship problems !
