Update: I just wanted to know if things end with me and my guy we dated over for 5 years and we love each other I am not sure if he can ever be loyal he cheated on me in the past and yes it has really hurt I am not mad at him just disappointed cause I do love him

Its possible but it depends only on the way the relationship ended for example if you both mutually decided about the relationship was not worth it then if possible but if one just broke up with the other then its very hard
I've answered this question before on this site. I don't think you can be any more than very casual friends with an ex. There are too many feelings and emotions to deal with, to be close friends. There's a reason they're an ex!
It all depends on the parties involved, what kind of a friendship they had, what caused them to breakup, how mature they are, etc. It is possible though.
