Why do women flake on dates at the last minute?

I've had this happen many time sin the past. Not anymore. I got around it.

However I never figured out why. And it affects many guys I've known.

The scenario. You meet a girl. She seems VERY interested. There is good chemistry. You both tell each other you'd like to catch up again. You exchange numbers. You call her and arrange a date.

Either:

1: She avoids catching up with you.

2: You both set a date to see each other. At the last minute she cancels and then it becomes impossible to lock her down on a date again.

Previously she was interested (and no, it's not all in my head. She showed great interest).

So what happens here? Why do they flake? Especially when she's been telling you she's looking for a guy?

When I was younger, I'd meet a guy and have fun flirting with him for a while (especially at bars, after a few drinks. ) We'd exchange numbers. But the next morning I'd think a little more, and realize I didn't want to see him again. Sometimes there was a reason -- often it was just a feeling. Anyway, because I didn't want to get into it, I'd duck his calls, or always be "unavailable" when he tried to make a date face-to-face. I'm guessing a lot of girls do the same thing. I know it's kind of confusing to guys, but a guy can't assume that just because a girl flirts with him she therefore is interested in dating him. Girls are usually more selective about dating than they are about flirting. That's just the way it is (and probably the way it's always been! )

In the past when I was dating around and made potential dates with guys I thought I was interested in I tried to be as up front as possible, however I have flaked for the following reasons:

- Friends talked me out of it and convinced me the guy wasn't my type

- I gave it some more thought and decided I was forcing myself to like them and didn't like them as much as I thought I did

- I had my eye on some one else

When I was younger I would definitely say my friends had a greater influence on my choices.

I can't speak for every female out there, but those are some reasons I may have backed out of a date or "avoid" a guy I once showed some degree of interest in.

Some women may not know how to tell a guy face to face that she really is not interested in them. She may put on a front when they are face to face but then her true intentions and feelings are reflected in her actions after they leave each other's presence. I have done this before so I know what the real deal is.

Well I've done this to other women and they have done it to me as well.

I'll ask for her number as a nice way to part / end conversation (if we've chatted enough) with never the intentions of calling her.

Girls however, have given me their numbers never with the intentions of answering my calls.

So, just go into it not expecting much and you'll come out happy.

All part of the social game.

Sounds like they were talking to someone else and the other person get them before you did. Like maby they just got out of a relationship and got back with their x. She is telling the truth that she's looking for a guy, if she just got out of a relationship. She wants to get her mind off her x. Don't take it personal, just go to the next one. Good?
