Who should bring up being exclusive?

Question

I see lots of questions regarding the big girlfriend-boyfriend question, and sad to say always posted by women. I have never asked this question, and only ever experienced it with 2 of my previous boyfriends.

Is this a normal conversation for most folks? I've always let it happen naturally.

Are women expected to initiate this conversation? From the many posts, lots of women seem strangely compelled. I don't think I could ever do it. It falls into that category of questions like where is this relationship going, or when are we getting married... taboo.

I put a poll up for easy answers, but anyone, feel free for comments or stories.

In my experienced its usually the woman who has a need to hear that its official.  Guys just kind of go with the flow and let things gradually get more serious, and once things get to a certain point its just pretty much assumed that it goes without saying that you're "together".  Therefore, since the girls are the only ones who NEED to hear that its official, it pretty much falls on them, if they want to hear it.  But if the guy wants to hear it too then he's equally responsible.

Most of the time I like to just let things happen naturally, but there has been times where I started falling for someone and just came out and asked her if we could make it serious and those 2 of 3 times ended in BS cause I guess they weren't really ready if I felt like It would've never became official if I would've never asked them.

In past relationships I've only once asked a guy what we considered one another but for the most part the relationship was either none of us asking and just letting it happen OR it was the guy asking. I was never rushed except with the guy I was in a FWB relationship for 6 years.

i used to always be the one to bring it up. in the most recent relationship my guy wanted to take things slow so I just focused on having fun with him until he was ready. sometimes its hard to do the waiting game but if he's worth it then keep ur head in the game.

i don't think it matters either way. if you're in a relationship and you wanna know if it is exclusive, ask, don;t wait for someone else to make a move.

Bring an only child on top of being a guy, I really like my space and often times I will wait as long as I can before she gets her answer.

Either she'll get fed up and leave or she'll stay long enough to wonder. Either way I'm usually okay with being single or if the time is right then I'll let her know.

It's what I want and if she can wait, all the better but I usually try to communicate to them my intentions because I girls need to know in order to control their "feelings."
