Is that funk normal?

I've started seeing this guy, and he's really nice and sweet and all that--no complaints there. But, on our last date, there was this odor ... and at first I thought it may have been bad breath, but when we got in the car after dinner--it hit me that it was serious BO. He hasn't smelled like that before, so I'm wondering:  is it normal for guys to smelly funky at the end of the day, or not?

That's not normal! People shouldn't be stinking like that. Well at least not people with good hygiene.  Obviously you wouldn't smell like you're fresh out the shower at the end of the day, but there is no reason that someone should smell seriously bad at the end of the day.  Did he go to the gym before the date? If not, why didn't he shower? It would have only taken 10 minutes tops.  If he hasn't smelled like that before give him a pass. It may have just been a one time thing but watch him to make sure he isn't a nasty person. I wouldn't get intimate with him right now if you  haven't already. Be careful.

Tell him about it, ask him if he wears deodorant because it's something guys must address if they smell. I even tell my close friend if he stinks when I'm around him.

Its only normal for guys to stink at the end of the day if they haven't put on deodorant or if they were sweating so much that it wore out the deodorant.

It's normal for anyone to funky at the end of the day.  Especially if they were really active (Job, Sports etc.) and didn't even bother to shower before there next activity.  That is a major turn-off on a date, but I'm sure you would not have started dating him if that was the case when you met him.  I say give him another chance, he probably was just having a bad day.
