Why do girls seem to hide their interest?

Question

OK first off I'm not trying to sound cocky or what not, but I see girls looking at me when I'm out. And while I do have some trouble with working up the courage to approach a girl, why do girls seem to hide away their interest (or un-interest)? I'm not ranting I'm just honestly wanting to learn how girls think. Like I said, rejection and embarrassment is hard enough, but when I'm not sure how a girl feels or if I should even pursue her it makes it that much harder. It only seems to be the girls I find attractive that I have trouble with. Are pretty girls (meaning the ones I'm attracted to) trying to ignore guys so that they chase them? Sorry for the long post lol, and thanks for any answers!

well... for me, whenever I see a hot guy, that I just have to look/stare at, I will ALWAYS look away right away if he looks and pretend that I didn't notice him at all. For one thing, I don't wanna look creepy or something. For another, I honestly wouldn't agree to hangout with him, or give him my number, if he came and talked to me, no matter how sweet/hot/normal he seemed. I just don't trust strangers that easily. they have to be friends first. Like at school, it would have to be a random convo several times with someone I'd happen to bump into, or a classmate who talked to me several times, stuff like that. So if its just random girls, while your out and about, that could be why they do that. maybe they aren't really a hookup kinda girl.

sorry if my writing is confusing, I'm kinda sick so my mind isn't really arranging words very well right now haha

So I don't know if I fit into the "pretty girl" category, but I know that I'm really shy around guys I like. I can be really outgoing around guys that I have no interest in, but I clam up when I like a guy. And I'm sure that it sometimes seems like I am mean or don't like them. I am afraid of rejection so I don't bother talking to the guy.

I think that girls who aren't shy and just want you to chase them, would flirt with you a bit. I think they would seem into you one minute and not into you the next, which, in theory, should make the guy chase them.

Sometimes, when I really like a guy, I'm afraid that he won't like me back. So, although normally I would stare at him, or whatever, if he doesn't look at me then I think he doesn't like me. That makes me try to convince myself not to like him anymore and I try to ignore him. Of course, then I just end up being like, "But I do like him and I can't help it!" and start to look at him a lot again. All this just leads to much confusion! Sorry if we give off mixed symbols, but sometimes we personally are afraid of rejection so we hide our feelings.

It could be different reasons depending on the girl

Personally I am very shy and I have a lack of confidence when it comes to guys. People tell me I'm pretty but I used to not be pretty so I still have that unsurity when it comes to guys. I hide my interest until I'm sure the guy is very interested in me. but usually that makes him think that I'm not interested lol

So some of us are shy because we don't know how you feel about us

Well, for me. If I like a guy. I stare at him and smile,but I just try to not stare to much or make a move because I'm shy and I try to hide it. Some girls are shy.
