My gut here would be to just ask. If you're really worried about it though, you could ask him what he's doing on the weekend or whatever and then wait until he says a date-like event. Then ask who he's doing that with. Honestly though, I'm a big fan of removing all the weird, underlying tension. So I'd probably say something like "You've been less friendly than you used to be.
