Impractical in the US. Unfortunately, in the US much of our food that's sold to us has soy-based fillers used in it, even Vegan-friendly products. Tofu is entirely soy-based. Soy in small amounts is not a bad thing as it is a good natural source of protein. However, in larger amounts it has been proven to have a bad effect on human hormone production. Specifically, it reduces testosterone production while increasing estrogen production.

The only NATURAL way to counter the effects of large amounts of soy in your diet is to consume creatine, soy's polar opposite as far as hormones are concerned. And creatine is only found in one place in nature: Red meat.

In other words, soy screws with your hormones and the only way to keep things balanced is by balancing your soy intake (which you can't control unless you eat NOTHING BUT fresh fruits and veggies from your grocer's produce section due to its presence as a filler in foods) with red meat consumption.

As an avid weightlifter, I have ridiculously high protein intake demands. I need to consume upwards of 175g of protein a day which is not possible without turning to "artificial" protein sources such as protein bars and protein shake mixes, ALL OF WHICH use soy-based protein in them. So I need to balance it out with creatine, and unless I get that from a supplement as well, that means red meat.

Don't think it's a good idea, health wise, iron and protein are required in your diet, iron is specifically required in the female diet. My sister used to be a vegetarian and she had low blood iron with high blood pressure... the doctor told her she had to eat meat. So it seems like a nice 'save the animals' idea, but it isn't good for your body.

there are other ways to get iron in your diet, some vegies are just irresponsible.

Usually requires like a kilo of spinach or supplements which the body apparently doesn't absorb too well. No substitutes for mother nature...

Perfectly fine with it considering I am a vegetarian, but I think people make a huge deal out of it. There are those vegetarians who try to push their beliefs on other people and then there are those non-vegetarians who see all vegetarians as annoying and full of themselves. Honestly I don't care what other people think about what I want to put in my body. I feel better and healthier for doing it, but I'm not gonna look down on people who eat meat.

It's fine. I try to eat at least 2 vegie days a week. But I really like meat, so the other 5 days I do meat & fish along with veggies. It doesn't hurt to convert a day or 2 a week. It's good for you & cuts the grocery bill down. I like that.

You shouldn't take diets, and eat what you want to.

Also, vegetables/fruits scream/cry according electrical activity when you pick them and cut into them and they are cultivated just like animals are raised for food...

So technically eating free range animals and organic vegetables, is probably the same thing as eating factory vegetables with no animal product...in the ethical sense.

If it's for animal rights reasons I want to curb stomp them. It pisses me off. If we didn't eat animals there would be too many and our world would be more chaos than it already is. If it's because they don't like the taste of meat, that's fine.

You'll get attacked saying how humans aren't being controlled and how nutrition can come from plants as well.

Also, that animals are life and plants are not.

Excuse me. People don't just eat beef and chicken. I live in Minnesota, and if we don't deer hunt there are even MORE accidents because of them. They are over populated as it is and if people didn't kill them off(as well as other animals) other things would start to suffer. Talk to the DNR.

Please, do NOT enter a debate with vegetarians. It's really the same like evolutionism vs creationism.

I just think it's so stupid. It's a food chain, they need to get over it. The animal is going to die either way.

Woah what? You disagree with a choice that actually influences animal cruelty? It has contributed to more humane ways of killing animals. So yeahhh :S

I'd rather be shot in the head or heart with no suffering than being strangled to death by the teeth of another animal and possible other bites with it.

I don't mean to be rude but possibly research the ways factories kill animals actually bred for slaughter. There's a difference to wild animals obviously.

Be one, if you want to, just don't try to convert me OR try to "scientifically" prove being a vegetarian is better; it isn't.

Vegetarianism is an interesting lifestyle choice. It usually doesn't last unless you truly believe in not consuming animal products.
