Does acne affect a girl's physical beauty? For example..If you see a beautiful girl from far away, and then notice that she has terrible, awful acne up close, does that affect your approach or lack thereof?
Well I too have a lot of acne, sure I like a girl with nice skin, but I would love perfect skin as well, but nobody is perfect, as long as its not like her whole face is covered in zits and acne, it won't matter, I mean it happens to everyone probably and if you care so much about acne, it is just for looks.
I do like girls with good skin, so acne is a bit of a turn off (for me). One little blemish isn't a problem, but a lot of acne looks nasty. It takes away from the skin tone and puts an aged look on the skin. I like to make eye contact with a girl, I don't want to end up staring at her acne.
I had acne for thirteen years, and was treated like shit the whole time. Eventually I had to buckle down and take Retin-A to get rid of it. My skin was dry, but it worked. Now I only get the occasional pimple if I've been eating greasy foods. I have some scarring, but thankfully for guys that's considered "character. "
Anyways, I tend to not be harsh toward women with acne because I've dealt with it myself. I still don't like it, and think they should be trying to treat it instead of searching for someone who doesn't care, or pretends not to. Maybe I have some latent hostility from all the treatment I had during that time of my life, but the lesson I got out of all of this is everyone is superficial to a degree. Taking the time and effort to present yourself as best as you can is important when attracting a mate.
How is your diet? Cutting out greasy foods and eating more whole foods is a good natural way to reduce the amount of oil your skin produces. I have changed my diet recently, and I've noticed it helps tremendously to prevent the minor outbreaks I get.
I hope you find a product that works. Just remember the acne isn't who you are, it's just something you are going through. Something you can overcome.
I know I'm not a guy, but I just have to chime in. I used to have bad acne as a teenager and oh my god did it hurt my confidence and self esteem. I still managed to date a lot of guys.
Remember acne goes away once you get older and being on birth control helps to regulate those hormones. If a guy doesn't like you because you have acne, then he is pretty much just a jerk and only cares about the physical appearance. Of course, without is always better (even from a personal perspective), but hey it's something we all have to go through!
Yeah my acne is terrible. It's prohibiting me from doing so much. It just puts a real damper on my mood. I'm always trying to hide it with make-up. I hate make-up. And to be honest, it doesn't even cover it perfectly. - 8 months ago

Let me tell you. I feel your pain! I had super bad acne up until the time I started taking birth control. But to be honest the product that worked the most for me was Proactiv. I know I sound like a commercial, but seriously it's only like $20-$30 every other month. It's worth it, especially to boost your confidence with men.
I've been there and trust me it gets SO much better. Everything WILL work out eventually, I promise. - 8 months ago
Question Asker
I've used Proactiv. It helped for a few months, then I broke out even more. :-/ It feels hopeless. - 8 months ago

Don't talk like that. It is never hopeless but could be if you keep thinking that way. How old are you? At some point, you just kind of grow out of it too. I still break out, but I don't use anything anymore to prevent it, but it's never as bad as when I was younger. - 8 months ago
I'd just like to add that unfortunately it doesn't always just go away when you get older, and birth control doesn't always help. I had perfect skin (or at least it was rare for me to get a pimple)until I started up on birth control, then my skin was just out of control. And my boss, who is in her 50's, tells me now that she didn't start getting acne until she was in her 30's. Proactive also dried the shit out of my skin. I ended up using some cream that my doctor prescribed, worked great. - 8 months ago
