What does it mean when a guy says he's totally lost with his life; he's in mess with everything & needs time?

It means quite simply that he has unresolved issues that he is trying to sort out.

It could be a million things.Maybe he is re-thinking a long distance relationship. Maybe he found someone else that is local and finds attractive, but doesn't know which one to pursue. Maybe he has had some financial or career setbacks that he needs to concentrate on, so less time to chat and text. Maybe it is psychological, and he just feels smothered, and needs to pull back and take it slower.

Long distance relationships are hard in general, and rarely work out. All you can do is give him what he needs, and hopefully he can sort out what he needs to sort out. If you can't do that then do yourself and him a favor and set him free.
