women love diamonds because it makes them feel as elegant as the ring on their finger, it proves to them that you picked that beautiful rock just for their finger and it's a symbol of commitment to that person forever which also makes it more of a craving for it.

i think some woman assume the bigger the rock and the more it sparkles the more the guy loves her . that's just my guess as I'm not really a flashy diamond kinda person

It's not the rock they care about it's the MEANING. A diamond symbolizes love, I gave my girlfriend a ball of aluminum foil and told her it meant more love than all the diamonds in the world. She used it to make an origami charizard.

FYI--the ring does symbolize the commitment between two people. I would be more then happy with a simple band, but the ring symbolizes the relationship, so don't knock the whole idea altogether.

Ha. I don't knock it at all. I just thought it would be fun to have a discussion about it. If my girl wants a shiny rock, I am getting her one because I think it will make her happy.... even if I think the whole idea is rather silly.

Knowing a bit about how diamonds are produced and the manufacturing of the engagement ring myth by the cartels, it has always interested my why so many women are still so interested in them. Regardless, thanks for your input. =)
