So yesterday I took out these tiny gold studs I had been wearing for 4 months (gross, I know). A few minutes later, my left ear lobe has been itching and sore like hell.
Below is my normal right piercing. And this is the little shit that has been bothering me
Yup looks infected to me... you need to clean the jewlery 3 times a day with alcohol (the post). Clean both sides of ear with some sterile saline on a cOtton swab and put some Antibiotic ointment on the post before reinserting to heal up right.
It looks infected. It's red, swollen, and probably is painful to the touch.

In my experience your piercing would be like that if you rarely clean the thing. Beside if your earrings is not pure gold it would effect the skin like that.
