Why is being shallow known as a bad thing?

I believe human beings, by nature, are shallow. So is it wrong to be shallow? Why do people believe it is wrong to be shallow, when we are all shallow to a certain extent?

There is a difference between being attracted to someone physically and being shallow. Shallow people judge others on their appearance and value physical beauty above most other traits. It's a bad thing because you simply shouldn't judge someone entirely one one trait and you shouldn't do things like disclude someone because they don't meet your ideal expectations of physical beauty.

If the only thing that you wanted in life is to copulate, it doesn't matter, but we are not animals. We think before acting. And being shallow as you said it is in nature. To think further than what nature dictates, that's what make us human beings.

Define shallow. It depends on the context.

Shallow as in... only concerned with the looks of their bf/gf?
Or as in materialistic? Overly concerned with appearance and perception? Etc etc

Truly shallow people have little to offer.
