Why do men like to tease and/or get a rise out of women?

When a man teases one woman in particular and not to mention incessantly (don't worry, it isn't cruel and she teases back!), does it really follow the age old tale that they like her? Is it their subconscious way to tell her that they like her considering that they have been socially conditioned to NOT show and express their true emotions?

for the most part people tease one another when they like each other, why would you spend all that time picking on some one if you actually hated them or were not interested

See and people have suggested that he may fo it for fun but considering that it's constant, especially everyone we see each other, I can't help but think that he's NOT just doing it for fun. As you said, why WOULD a guy do it if he wasn't interested? WHY lead someone on like that?...

You have no idea how much better you made me feel! BEcause as I have been told from some guy friends, guys are simple. They either like you or they don't. They're all for it, or against it. He LOVES to flirt with me and loves to tease...I think it would be sick and twisted if he just lapped up the attention and nothing more. Goodness...if I only had the nerve to tell him flat out that I like him!

Say for instance a woman is trying to flirt w a man, he ignores her and starts to tease the girl next to him (me) eventhough she is not part of the convo and did nothing to be a part of it. Anything and everything that is discussed between the teo of you turns into him teasing me. It's funny but I'm curious as to why he does it and only to me even when I am keeping to myself.

I certainly hope so as I see women desperately attempting to tease him and get him to treat them like he does me but he only chuckles. He of course then starts on me and becomes extremely goofy! I can't help but tease back!
